2022/23 Ellis Simms

It's really weird how Maupay continues to play ahead of him, when the worst case scenario you could possibly get from Simms is basically being like Maupay, but taller, and Simms even in cameos has looked significantly more likely to score and create for others (remember the Iwobi penalty and the one that set Doucoure up before he started tripping on his own feet?) than Maupay ever does. And it's not like Maupay is putting in the work otherwise out there.
It’s mad maupay gets ahead of him feel sorry for him must be soul destroying if you believe in yourself then see him getting picked.

Managers are very weird about seniority. They will play godawful players with absolutely no incentive over young players that may kick on someday for god knows why. I’m not saying Simms is the answer but Hell Gray and Iwobi are better answers at striker than Maupay. Literally anyone. Keane. At least Simms has some traits that can translate down the line. I can’t say Maupay has anything except for maybe work rate and that is pushing it. His work rate is slightly above average at best

Not sure how accurate but been told Simms is available for permanent transfer in the summer with championship clubs interested due to a shortage of strikers at that level.

Have to feel it’s probably the same even if things don’t go our way on Sunday to raise funds for our new team etc

In the Championship you say…we should buy him……

Well if he can’t get a game here with the experience he had a Sunderland snd our current striker shortage there is no chance for him at the club.
Unless we go down of course

A natural finisher for a game we need a goal. I expect him to get a run off the bench at the very least.
I don’t disagree. Litterally this should has been a terrible time for the club but for simms it should have been his perfect storm to make himself as a premier league forward. Must be missing something

Glad he got 10 mins or so in a difficult situation. Not sure if anyone noticed the moment he angled his run on the shoulder of the last defender and invited Iwobi to play him in? (which Iwobi frustratingly didn’t)..

That is the sort of movement we have been crying out for and I hope he gets more chances next season with Tom Cannon.

I was screaming at the tv when that happened.

I hope we keep hold of Cannon as he looks a half decent striker at a tender age
