With the expected announcement today just thinking a chat about how this will affect people's match going experiences especially spending pre and post match, away games and Cup games.
The knock on effect of prices in pubs on County Road, taxis, trains etc will make everything unsustainable especially the current demand for away games.

It is going to be horrific espedislly for those either elderely or with kids and i dont think fans either for Everton and other teams will be more accepting poor performance which will not be an option.

I think I can just about manage to keep going the match but lucky I do not go to as many away games as previously but will need to consider cup games as they are an added expense which come a further rise in inflation in January will make it unmanagble for me.

How are people on here looking at their own current matching experience and will it change?

Interesting talking point this, I don't think it will affect gates but I do think it will price a lot out, like the league Cup games for example, but league games there will always be someone else who can afford it.

I just spent €110 on two tickets to watch Jonjoe Kenny (if selected) stink out the Hertha Berlin defence against Borussia Dortmund tomorrow. My nine-year-old son, God love him, suffers from an even greater affliction than his long-suffering Everton-obsessed dad. He supports Hertha BSC. So, this is for him. I'd feel less guilty if I were selling him into slavery. At least I'd be making money from that...

In better news, I suspect the torrid battering Hertha will get tomorrow will soon dissuade him of the notion that a bi-monthly trip to the Olympiastadion is a profitable way to spend a Saturday. Perhaps he will settle for the associated trip to McDonalds in lieu of flushing my hard-earned cash down das klo.

More than ever its a middle class spectator sport in the stadium. Cup games likely to be an opportunity for people on tighter budgets to attend.

On a national scale, I fear riots won't be far away if the predicted £6,600 cap comes in next year

I suspect season ticket holders will have a dilemma if they have to incur significant transport costs. All about disposable income isn't it? Walk ups may suffer.

Away fans / attendances may be hit?

Possibly less spending on catering in the ground and entertainment pre and post game? Will hit local businesses potentially.

I’ve said straight away that I’m going to scale back doing some aways.

It’s just not economically viable, I’m about to become a father, and well, I’ll use Bournemouth as the example…

Twice in four days, approximately a day of your time travelling, over both games, £60 on tickets, £80 on coach, £60-80 on spends, it’s viable, but I just can’t mindlessly spend.

Any London away, you’re talking £80 for the train nowadays, so straight away I’ve got to swap a 2 hour train for a 6 hour coach. I’ve said I’ll choose my games, because it’s be better to be prepared.

It will be a tough time, so if anyone needs any support or anything though, happy to assist where I can. What a grim time to be a UK Citizen.

And at some point those of us on supposedly "middle-class" salaries need to cop ourselves on. Despite my latest aberration at the Hertha ticket office, I have started that process by cancelling my DAZN subscription here in Germany. The chancers announced that they were doubling my monthly subscription from this month (€14.99 to €29.99). For the sheer temerity of their carry-on, I just zapped them once and for all. Will I miss it? I'll live. My experience is that I get to watch little to no casual football since becoming a father. Other priorities take over. It's not like I couldn't afford to pay DAZN's price hike. It's more the principle of it. If they can double it now, why wouldn't they double it again next year? Bandits.

They won't be in business long. At least with Sky, if you cancel (or try to) they often seek to persuade you to stay with "offers" of dubious attraction. DAZN just allow you to cancel online with nary a protest. They'll be bust with that attitude in no time... Got to say, though, it's a joy just to be able to go nuclear and press the Cancel button. I've no problem spending big money on the things I love and things that give me joy. But there does come a time when you question the "joy" of being royally screwed. In that sense, as was pointed out earlier in this thread, football clubs that take their fans for granted and make mugs of them in their transfer dealings and on the pitch might soon find themselves losing some significant gate receipts as the penny drops for people that there is no joy in being a Moshiri Mug. I'm not sure the Everton "experience" offers enough to well-heeled casuals who might otherwise just step in and replace the disgruntled...
