Energy Bills, knock on effect to match going?

I was reading that there is no price cap on business energy costs cap, so they will be open to the market rate which is 4 times the price of energy they were paying in 2020. It's going to have a massive knock on effect big time, if it's costing businesses 4 times the amount just to power their shop/pub it's going to have to be paid for by the customers.

This country is on the brink of a crisis that most haven't seen in their lifetimes and we have a government who are telling us to tighten our belts, whilst allowing private energy companies to receive record profits.

Or, as a wise man nearly said - Kenwright; The Bill we  Really can't afford.

That out of the way, as the pie shrinks and more people seeming to want a bigger slice from you, priorities will have to be re-addressed.
Things that were things thought essential, will become optional, then unaffordable...it won't be a short term thing either and will get worse before it gets, seemingly imperceptibly, better.

Less floodlight games earlier kicks off times for lower league clubs, maybe - we never had floodlights once in the late 1950s......

80% feul increase is going to hit jobs & industry too .... lack of affordable money everywhere -

Back to the early kick off times of 1330 in all games just like in three day week era of early seventies.

Think the first thing people will be looking at is their other regular monthly outgoings so anything subscription based is going to suffer, stuff like gym memberships will go but the most relevant to football is tv subscriptions. Even if the energy price crisis is relatively short (fingers crossed) these are the things that get cancelled and never taken again when people discover other ways to keep fit or other ways to watch the footy (and most people know what those are).

In the medium term might force a change in how football is sold and watched, and there’s a chance the massive tv money bubble in the PL might burst. I know it’s been forced on us but from an Everton perspective I think the tightening of the belt we’ve been going through the last couple of years might have come at a good time.

It’s horrendous.

I’m from Belfast and share a season ticket with the brother. There were a number of times last season (for Sunday games anyway), I was able to get return flights for 25-30 quid, and a solid hotel for 40.

Do not envisage this being replicated this season ? Tinder usage will go from ‘Operation willy suck’, to ‘Operation Accomodation’ ????

End the 3pm blackout and get lower and non-league games kicking off at lunchtime- save on energy costs during the winter months and punters can get down and support a local side then if their main team is away or too far away can still watch their team at home or in a pub at 3.

The blackout only encourages streaming anyway and if folk have to stream a 3pm Saturday game they will wonder why they don’t just stream the 4pm Sunday game too.

Just walk away from Everton, it’s not as if they serve you well anyway. Use the time saved on the weekend to do a pastime or hobby which will bring you a self of achievement or calm. This is your opportunity.

And at some point those of us on supposedly "middle-class" salaries need to cop ourselves on. Despite my latest aberration at the Hertha ticket office, I have started that process by cancelling my DAZN subscription here in Germany. The chancers announced that they were doubling my monthly subscription from this month (€14.99 to €29.99). For the sheer temerity of their carry-on, I just zapped them once and for all. Will I miss it? I'll live. My experience is that I get to watch little to no casual football since becoming a father. Other priorities take over. It's not like I couldn't afford to pay DAZN's price hike. It's more the principle of it. If they can double it now, why wouldn't they double it again next year? Bandits.

They won't be in business long. At least with Sky, if you cancel (or try to) they often seek to persuade you to stay with "offers" of dubious attraction. DAZN just allow you to cancel online with nary a protest. They'll be bust with that attitude in no time... Got to say, though, it's a joy just to be able to go nuclear and press the Cancel button. I've no problem spending big money on the things I love and things that give me joy. But there does come a time when you question the "joy" of being royally screwed. In that sense, as was pointed out earlier in this thread, football clubs that take their fans for granted and make mugs of them in their transfer dealings and on the pitch might soon find themselves losing some significant gate receipts as the penny drops for people that there is no joy in being a Moshiri Mug. I'm not sure the Everton "experience" offers enough to well-heeled casuals who might otherwise just step in and replace the disgruntled...
Mines 12.99 still in Spain. They try that with me I'm out too.

The law of unintended consequences - there might be fewer evening games, due to my time zone I hate 5.30 games.
7.45 and 8.00 pm are just manageable
