England 2018

Ridiculous that we didn't get it and so obvious that FIFA are massively corrupt.
Seems obvious to me that Putin didnt turn up because he knew he didn't need to.

A World Cup in Russia seems insane to me. Did I hear they need to build 14 new stadiums?! Insane.

And can someone explain to me how the ridiculous size of the country will make this tournament feasible?!

Don't agree with them davek as that will acheive nothing and do more harm than good but i will be honest with you it's how i feel. The english game does do more than any other nation do develop football in third world countries.

Probably down to individual clubs. Everton do their bit. They help kids in Africa and Asia. Other clubs too no doubt.

I totally reject that. The bid only got going when two weeks ago the hangers on looking for a political pay off started to lobby the voting nations. It was there to be won but the English delegation thought they could avoid years of hard work and just swan in with their A-List of backers at the eleventh hour and waltz off with the WC.

As for me hating England - there's no greater patriot than me. I love my country.

Now that i like, great sense off humour however i firmly belive that we never had a chnave due to the anti englishness acroos the globe. I will admit to a degree to your point however that at the start of the campaign they did not help themselves and more could have been done, however having heard the bids i fail to understand how russia came out on top. Russia's was crap. If it was close then maybe i could buy it but to only get 2 votes its obvious we never stood a chnace. We did have a good bid and that is a fact.

Hello Kev mate and I understand your frustration as who wouldn't want to see the World Cup in their own backyard, but one thing doesn't add up for me.

Everyone is having a go at FIFA and calling it corruption when the decision is based on other, independent countries voting for the big that they liked best. So for me it shows that England's bid wasn't as good as they thought it was and that FIFA hadn't took a bung for the decision mate.

There's three parties culpable for the big let down here and none of them are FIFA. 1 - The people behind the bid for attracting just one non English vote, 2 - The media for over hyping in a fit of misguided nationalism and 3 - those believing the media.

It amazes me that some still believe England had the best bid. The media have people eating from their hands.
Tomorrow they will have most of England filled with hate for the "corrupt" leaders of football.

and four - our bid team refusing to pay big bribes.........

Here is a good example, read this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-11903497

Taking a line out of it, I'm loving this:
Rita Spada, of the Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce, said she was "disappointed".
But she said: "From a Milton Keynes point of view we have achieved what we set out to do.
"Milton Keynes is appreciated as one of the top places. We are in with the big guys of football, such as Liverpool."

On a personal note, take that Plymouth you backwater tits. That's what you get for selling us Gosling.

Just one vote mate, when you exclude the English representative voting for themselves.

The bid looks to have been very [Poor language removed] indeed.

Thing is C i have heard russia bid and also their presentation today i maybe i suppose i am a touch biased but it was truly cringe worthy and i did not think our's was that bad. Also when you look at it from a common sense point of view, we have it all where russia have it all to do. Agreed we did not help ourselves in the early part and also agreed the press definately hintered but surely this should not haved swayed fifa's voting it should have been on who was capable of hosting the best world cup and is surely us. Is fisa currupt i dont know and i am not saying they are however i certainly believe there is a sense of anti english just like to a degree there is on the forum

You see, being honest mate, the English resort to claims of persecution when things go their way instead of analysing and resolving where the origin of the failure come from.

If it was close, like two or three votes in it then you might have a case but England got one vote out of a potential twenty one votes from foreign representatives. That to me just indicates that the England bid was clearly not good enough.
