Those fans who are crapping all over Tuchel because little ol Howe or Potter didn't get the job are the ones wrong with international football in this country.

They don't deserve success, we have a bonafide elite tournament manager and they'd rather have Eddie HOWE lmao.

BUT...BUT...HE'S NOT ENGLISH!!

Who gives a f, his CV puts every English manager to shame over the last few decades.

Defoe was nowhere near world class, come on  Glen Johnson was a bang average player. David James was crap and 40 at the time. It was, I’ll say it again, absolutely nowhere near the level of the team we currently have and nowhere near the quality of the top international teams of the time. A lot of our top players at the time like Cole, Terry and Lampard were past their peak too.

Look at the state of the bench and the players we were bringing on to try and change a game. Shaun Wright-Phillips and Emile Heskey to come on rather than Cole Palmer and Phil Foden. You cannot be serious with your argument here.
He was a very good striker and would likely have had a lot more caps if he weren't English. Not many international sides have absolute undisputed class in every position.

Plenty of players are bang average in the Premier League yet go on and win international trophies without looking out of place in their respective teams.

They have tried that too with Capello and Erikson.

In summary, anybody who expects success because “it’s England” is probably in for a lifetime of disappointment.

Southgate has been the best England manager in my lifetime for actually getting somewhere and I’m 56.
He's also been ridiculously lucky with which sides of the draw his England team has found itself in for tournaments.

I've never been a believer that going deep into a tournament in and of itself is a measurement of success. Can't knock the guy as you can only play what's in front of you but there's never been a win that's upset the apple cart or laid down a marker. There has been a lot of hard fought scrappy wins that really shouldn't have been though.

And yet here’s the actual team that started against Germany plus subs. Nowhere near the quality of the squad we currently have. Full of absolutely bang average nothing Premier League players.

However we still would’ve got to the final if we’d been given the sort of draws Southgate was routinely given.

He would've had an easy run to the semis in 2010 if he actually topped the group like Southgate routinely did.

A lot gets made of the whole Southgate easy draws thing but that's what happens when you win your group. Southgate done it 3 times out of 4.

We only did it twice in the 10 tournaments prior to his appointment.

The one time we didn't top it was to Belgium who got to the same stage.

Tuchel will do well to match Southgate regardless of the quality of squad

Really happy he’s got it. Hopefully he’s the difference and gets us over the line. All the shouts for Howe etc are mad, apart from Pep, Tuchel is probably the best manager England could get for the lowish wage they actually offer.

But this makes no sense because he got an easy draw even when he finished second?

If you support/follow England, I assume you sign on some type of weekly register.

Imagine actively watching a team with TAA and other reds in? How peculiar

Anyway, that wasn’t my point of this post. The English media absolutely killing Tuchel already is unreal. No one wants to see us fail like our own national press.

Saved from an all time humiliation against Slovakia with a once in a lifetime individual wonder goal in the 95th minute too. If you even scratch slightly beneath the surface rather than just look at a set of numbers on Wikipedia, his record has been heavily indebted to luck more than anything impressive that he’s done.

His club career will reflect his abilities as a manager anyway, I’m fine to wait for that one to play out.
