Actually forgot Henderson played football still until the other day, so had to do a double take when I saw his name in the squad.

Some strange/really poor picks there. Burn, Quansah, Walker (thought he'd retired from internationals), Jones and Rashford. Seems even more like it's a popularity contest for who's picked.

Must be planning to win the WC on penalties.

Staggering that, like. This is a player he thinks can lead England to winning the world cup next year?

“Jordan is, first of all, a serial winner,” Tuchel said. “He’s captain of Ajax at the moment. He’s available. (…) What he brings to every team — his leadership, his character, personality, energy — he makes sure that everyone lives by the standards and, with this characteristic, he embodies everything that we try to build.”

"...his character, personality, energy — he makes sure that everyone lives by the standards and, with this characteristic"

He wears rainbow laces and then plays football for loads of money in a regime that kills gay people.

That's his 'character'.

Yup, in more progressive societies he uses his "advocacy" for personal brand enhancement. In head-chopping societies, he erases it. Basically, Henderson has values. And if you don't like them, he has another set that you might find more palatable.

What are his values? Well, he values his brand, he values his wallet, and he values his market value.

Let's face it: he's a footballer who sensed that if he positioned himself as a progressive he'd get a market bump for his increased profile from it...in fact, that's possibly handing him too much credit; his agent probably told him to do it for those purposes.

He's just a Geordie savage who reverted to type when he was among fellow savages.

What did people think of Gareth Southgate's lecture? I liked it. First he brought some wokeness back to the England football set-up, now he's going to do the same to the whole country. He's on a mission to counteract the Brexit mentality, Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage, Andrew Tate and what have you. I'm all for it.
Yes, but where does he position himself now politically given the LP are a busted flush for progressivism.
