You're deluding yourselves fellas. If you get past Slovenia on Wednesday, and I've seen nothing to suggest you will, then you will go out to the first half decent team you meet.
The Capello thing is a peculiar one as he obviously has an excellent pedigree, I just think he's finding it difficult to cope with the media and fans being assistant manager as what usually happens. Lets not forget that Capello was the saviour of English football two games ago and now, predictably, he's a failure etc etc.
That's where a huge part of the problem lies with England, he should be given time to sort it out but perhaps won't. England are like the Newcastle of international football really, look at the fans.
I'm not deluding myself mate, I don't think we are going to win the world cup, but I do think those players should give a performance - they do for their clubs on a regular basis.
Capello is a failure now because he has made some howlers in the media. He has picked a strange squad not based on form, which is what he intended to do when he became manager.
Also worth noting that there were rumbles about whether or not he was going to be England manager next season before this World Cup, and it's the media who are asking the question - but they for me are 10x worse than the fans as they try to get a rise to sell papers, just look at the Sun for an example there.
The problem isn't the fans. It's how the players have reacted - Rooney acting like a spoilt child in front of the cameras. Gareth Barry being more mature, level headed and understanding about the reaction.
Its absolutely no different than Everton fans when they boo their own. Its what happens. Tell you what I have noticed, i've watched all the games and only 2 teams can I remember where the fans have been heard singing. One was England fans, and the other is the Mexicans.
We all know the English fan is fickle, **** me I know that from sitting where I sat last season in the Blert End.
So in summary for me the main issue is the media who like Gazza said, they build you up to knock you down - unlike in the US where your a star for life. Here the media like to see a fall from grace as much as rags to riches story.
