i'm not going to say it was a bad decision to drop him because it wasn't. I just wish they would have given him a bit more trust given his average and how he's still new to the test environment. his technique is likely to improve quicker by facing test class bowling than going back to county cricket. Every player is going to go through tough times in test cricket, you learn more about them in tough times, i just like to see them grit and come through it the other side rather than them being dropped quickly.
it's more his style which makes me like him in this england team tbh - like i say, bell's style can be replaced easily with a taylor.
these days with all this T20 stuff, not many kids are growing up as a boycott/atherton - this team is severely lacking that sort of rock apart from cook. we miss that trott like figure at 3 and don't believe having a flashy player like bell is the real answer. he's got himself out a lot of times lately through terrible shots.
