I'm genuinely impressed by that team, it's a very brave selection.

What a great list of 4 individuals who were good in midfield, you mean. As a midfield 4, especially the continued shoehorning of Lampard and Gerrard in the middle, never really fulfilled expectations. Such a waste. Remember when one or the other was injured and Hargreaves came in and played a blinder, and everyone knew he'd be kicked out once Lampard and Gerrard were fit.On the radio this morning they were talking about the starting X1 in Euro 2004 ( James, G Neville, Campbell, A Cole, Beckham, Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Owen) and how only Joe Harte from the current squad would get into that team.
My initial thoughts were 'What a midfield' - Becks, Scholes, Lampard and Gerrard. But as they day has gone on, its made me think of how much more balanced Roy's squad is. It might not be as talented, far from it but he has specialists such as Dier playing holding midfield which the do called 'Golden Generation' never had
who would you replace him with?No one outstanding, but after being sent packing without winning a game, I think the manager has to walk on principle. Especially when he's already been given a free pass for the previous Euros.
They might as well have given it to Redknapp. He'd have offered better than the dross that's been served up at the last two tournaments.who would you replace him with?

I don't know, but that shouldn't be a reason for him to still be the manager. He should be long gone.who would you replace him with?
I keep saying it. Roy is a very safe option for the FA.
All they care about is guarenteed qualification. Which Roy will get.
And not being smashed or totally embarrassed by anyone. Which Roy will manage.
The last euros we aren't embarrassed. The World Cup we lost 2-1 twice. Hardly embarrassing.
He's safe. We won't ever won a thing with him of course either.
The last euros was pure embarrassment, that performance against Italy was the most negative shitehouse performance i've ever seen from an england team in a knockout stage in 30+ years of watching... hodgson should have been fired within 10 minutes of the final whistle it was that pitiful. Completely and utterly shameful performance with no ambition from the second the whistle went.
instead of sacking him they keep him on for the world cup, this time we go out after playing only 2 matches.
so delighted with that performance and the previous euro's they decide to keep him on for another tournament...
utter inexplicable madness
Am i the only one who thinks Drinkwater shouldn't be in the squad ? 2 goals and 7 assists whilst playing for the league champions isn't exactly impressive. Never seem him have a game where i've thought 'this lad is class' either.
I actually think he's the best English manager there is though. Depressing as that is.I don't know, but that shouldn't be a reason for him to still be the manager. He should be long gone.
Getting through the groups last euros and not losing properly to a in form Italy with that squad of players was not embarrassing at all.
Unless you are deluded enough to think it could have done better.
Of course we could have done better, better would have been at least trying to score a goal. Go back and watch it, it was truly horrendous... the most negative performance I've seen from an England side in a major tournament.
