The negativity stems from an overreliance on G/A stats, no one in this thread—myself included— has actually watching him play this season. He’s young and has barely had a chance to start this season. People just enjoy complaining, but if he moves elsewhere and thrives, the same critics will be blaming Thelwell for not 'getting it over the lin' just like they did with Dias, Kudus, Pedro, Gyökeres, and Minteh.

Are we in a position to go with the unknown? I don't think we are. We need improvement in the squad that will help improve results. We need players for the now, not for a possible future.

He's a right winger with pace, something we've desperately needed for about a decade. Sure he won't be the finished article but if he was we wouldn't stand a chance of getting him in.

Also reckon we will get him for less than the 24m Lyon payed last summer because of their financial issues.

Anyone outside the PL is essentially a 'unknown' If we want to go down the dyche route of experience lets buy some PL cast off on high wages, worked well in the past hasn't it?
