Euro 2021 in England...

I'd rather the UK get a tournament under more normal circumstances. It's a bit ridiculous England hasn't had a world cup in over 50 years. The London Olympics were by far the best Olympics of my lifetime, and a world cup in England would be the same.
I'd be surprised if Europe won 2030 as it seems like FIFA will do a 100th anniversary type thing in South America. Which means 2034 and at that point Spain, Italy and even France will feel entitled to bid again as well.

Not sure they will do South America in 2030 with 2026 being in the states. I do think there should be one in England again as soon as possible though.

I'm not sure about that. South America is obviously a different continent and they'll be next in line with Africa, but I'm not sure anyone in Africa is in a position to make a compelling case.

Germany has quite a few and so does France after hosting 2016 but they wouldn't go there back to back.

I also don't see why Hampden and whatever the Wales stadium goes by these days wouldn't be used over 4 London venues.

I did think of Germany but with the building of Spurs and West Ham I think England has got better, newer stadiums. Having said that the Olympic Stadium in Berlin is the best ground I’ve ever been to, being miles from the pitch aside.

The thing is usually these tournaments try to spread around so if you assume they'd do a max of two venues in London that starts to be an issue. I think the UK is still better though.

Honestly I'm not sure what specifically you're referring to but isn't everyone? I mean the UK certainly feels like something I'd describe as a crap show. US ditto.
Im honestly not following the rest of Europe that closely, just came across a story in which Merkel was telling everybody to brace themselves for another wave.

We haven't done well, but we currently seem to be coming out of the woods, slowly.

As I said somewhere I don't think that many more waves are coming. In the US so many people have had it already that I cant really see it going up in large numbers again. I know not everyone is at that point but still.

If they are going to solely hold it over here, it’s only fair that Wales and Northern Ireland get to host games too. The Principality or Cardiff City Stadium could easily host Wales’ games and a couple of the lesser fixtures as could Windsor Park in Belfast

Ideally have it like this

6-8 venues in England - Wembley as a given, Old Trafford or the Etihad, St James’s Park, Anfield, the Emirates and one of Tottenham Stadium or London Olympic, Villa Park and City Ground

2-4 from Scotland (pending how many used in England) - Hampden (was being used anyway), Celtic Park or Ibrox, Tynecastle, Pittodrie

2 from Wales - Principality and either Cardiff City Stadium or Liberty Stadium

One each from Republic and Northern Ireland - Aviva Stadium (og venue) and Windsor Park

Republic of Ireland isn’t part for the UK, so unless they agree, they wouldn’t be included.

Northern Ireland doesn’t have any suitable stadiums. Windsor Park is 22,000, so they won’t either.

I agree, I’d like to see Ireland hosting it, but if the aim is to keep it to one country, then Ireland can’t happen.

The Aviva is one of the Euro venues though do it would only be fair to keep them if the tournament moved solely over here

I mean, in that case, why not Denmark or Netherlands? Both just as close.

I get your point, but if they’re isolating it, they won’t move it from GB.

ive got tickets for games in Dublin, so it’s beneficial for me to have games. But if they’re doing a single location, and England/GB is I’m the host, just cause see Ireland being selected.

Germany is doing way better than the UK. The UK has had over 4.1 million cases, Germany - a far bigger country - has had 2.4 million. The UK has had close to twice as many deaths with about 16 million fewer people, in terms of population.

I live in Berlin. Chancellor Merkel's "third wave" is probably the equivalent of Boris Johnson's summer reopening. She's a realist, a scientist, while he is a fantasist and whatever you'd like to call him yourself. A narrative has taken hold in the English press that the UK is doing well. That's a bit like the Black Knight saying he's still alive, if not kicking, after losing his fourth limb.

The only reason Germany isn't solely hosting Euro 2020 is because they are hosting Euro 2024 - and also because they are rightly concerned about variants. Until we know if vaccination stops transmission, hosting any tournament with any amount of fans is crazy. I think UEFA would be as well off cancelling this edition of the Euro. Without fans, it's a nothing tournament. With fans, it could be a superspreader event.

Merkel isnt a moron, which is why is another reason why I doubt she would do it.

Boris on the other hand......................

Hard to imagine it being cancelled IMO. Still money to be made from TV revenue etc.
