Euro Semi finals - ENG V NL; SPA v FRA

They did. My point remains though - they were very much an also-ran despite being on home soil. That side of the draw looked harder because of the names involved, not because of the actual quality of the teams.
Germany gave Spain their toughest match of the tournament. Let's see on Sunday how England do.

What are you on about, Captain Britain?

I am merely pointing out that other teams won their groups like England and ended up with a more difficult route to the final. It's not rocket science to point out that England have had a handier route than other group winners or Spain.

My God. England get a bit of success and some seem to demand total fealty to the notion they are a great side. They're a lucky side with a sprinkling of quality and a very good attitude. In the current circumstances, that can take you to the final...
That they have had an easier route is undeniable. However, you have needlessly told us this day-after-day. We know. Get over it.

You won't ever hear me say that they are a great side and I haven't heard anyone else say that they are so not sure where you are getting that from.

We have been very lucky with the tournament draw again just as we have been in most tournaments under Southgate, I don’t know how that can be debated really.

Yet @Drico insists that Spain had it hard because they had to play them. Can't have it both ways.

Spain have definitely had a more difficult route than England. Obviously you can’t pick the draw, but with England you might as well just let us at this point.

You've been denying it for two weeks!

But seriously, all the best in the final. There are lots of decent English people on here who deserve their moment of joy. If you beat this Spanish side, I don't think anybody can begrudge England. The Dutch might not have been great, but they were still the Dutch and had to be taken care of. And Spain have played wonderful stuff. You can't fault the spirit of the England players who have come up with big moments almost in spite of the toxic atmosphere around them. Southgate is a decent man. And with a Labour government in power, well, there are silver linings even for fair-minded ABEs.

Enjoy it, and with a bit luck - your current best friend ;) - you might just do it.

I haven't. I've just pointed out that other teams have let themselves down. There's a difference and you are smart enough to know it.

Anyway, thanks for the good wishes.

Oh, other sides have definitely let themselves down. That's why it's been such a disappointing tournament. Spain have saved it and England have provided some big moments. Other than that, thin gruel.

I think the two semi-finals were entertaining. The Spain quarter-final was also very good. And I expect a good final. In a one-off match, everything is possible. I don't make Spain the raging hot favourites some do. And this time around, unlike Euro 2020 at Wembley, England won't be expected to win - which could make a huge difference to their chances of doing so. All to play for. An exciting few days ahead. Enjoy.
