Euro2020 Knock Out Rounds

Italy have made many many finals in between 66 and tonight, as have many other nations who reached finals because getting there is a big deal

Clearly you don’t get just how significant tonight actually was not just for the players and management but for the fans at Wembley young and old who’ve only seen failure and heartbreak at tournaments. And we’re supposed to be made to feel guilty for celebrating that?

But you just barely squeaked by a depleted and inferior opponent in the dodgiest of ways on home soil.

I mean celebrate and thank your lucky stars, but don't celebrate like you just won the whole thing.

It was like when the RS celebrated that draw a couple of years ago at Anfield. It was so cringe worthy. Someone with a better memory than me will remember that game.

Loads of teams, including the Italians, have celebrated wins in this tournament like this already.

It's Englands first major final since 1966 - it's understandable.

I don't think anyone is celebrating like we've won the thing. Italy celebrated in a similar style yesterday. I think the Liverpool game you are referring to was against West Brom at the Pit. If you think that is equivalent to winning a Euro's semi-final after extra time you don't understand anything about football in England.

I think the players and the people in stadium certainly were.

It's very logical.

If you dont want to see this horrendous government claim a ytrophy win in order to cover over its crimes then get behind Itaky.

I'm looking forward to the final, and it cant come quick enough to see those - cheats who have enjoyed home advantage in all but one game in seven - put in their box and piped right 'kin down.
Well maybe, but I think that given Italy's history of far right politics a disassociation of ideologies and football might be the better course to take in this instance.

Same energy that you're battling here when Reds said we shouldn't celebrate our derby win.

I don't. That's how crowds react at the match. I've been at Everton semi-finals where the reaction at the end has been identical when we won. It was a big, big night for English football. To compare it to Liverpool drawing with West Brom at home is ridiculous. It is this country's first final in over 50 years.

It wasn't a pen but arguably England should have had one in the second half when Kane got clipped.

Denmark, 10-15 mins in the first half aside, didn't have much tonight. England weren't brilliant but they did enough.

I'm 26, was three months old when Everton last won a trophy and have only seen us reach one final in my lifetime.

So I'm going to enjoy my country - represented by a team which is diverse, young and vibrant - getting to the final of a tournament for only the second time in history.

The entire place singing Sweet Caroline on and off the pitch is not the same as the Italians celebration against Spain.
At any major boxing match in the UK you will get Sweet Caroline belted out in a similar way. What do you want? Play the national anthem and everyone wanders home muttering about how it was all a bit of an anti-climax?

You're American right?

Maybe you just can't understand it. I don't mean to be condescending saying that, it's just that we're talking about a sport that dominates this country and one we have been rubbish at on the international stage for over half a century. The US main sports of American Football and Baseball aren't really global sports and you don't have 'national' teams as such, so you don't get the same thing.

For the fans to just be absolutely delighted at reaching a final is thoroughly understandable.

Think us beating united on penalties at Wembley in the semi may have been my biggest celebration ever. Not getting into a final for over 50 years deserves a celebration regardless of Sunday
