But the overall quality is higher.

You said it yourself. UEFA is the strongest confederation. So less quack teams to play.

But anyrate, Super Vet "Puppy Special" has started, so off there now to make sure Mrs R doesnt buy one ffs.

Nite. Xx

Yes. UEFA is the strongest confederation. But having 24 teams in the EURO's finals tournament severely dilutes that quality.

Back in the 80's and 90's when it was a 16-team competition, it was a heck of a lot tougher. But getting through to the quarter-final stage for the likes of England, Spain, Italy, even Denmark, is a comparative stroll in the park now.

I feel sorry for people who hate the England team.

Potentially a national celebration and party missed and sneered at.

In years to come when people reminice there will be more than a touch of regret perhaps too embarrassing and painful to admit, that when the nation was enjoying themselves they spent their time in misery because they were too cool and edgy to support their country.
If we win on Sunday I will absolutely lose my sh..

I’m a 35 year old Evertonian and England fan who has pretty much only ever known failure. I was born in 85 so wasn’t old enough to see us when we were good. 1995 was great but that’s about it.

I suffered through being a fan of two largely crap teams through my life. I still don’t think we’ll win as I’ve been conditioned to expect failure. But if we do win I will enjoy it so, so much.

England have a lot of balls

Never even realised when watching last night.

Ref must have thought someone had spiked his half time shandy to miss this too

I think we used up quite a lot of our luck last night. Just hope the ref in the final doesn't have Sterling down as a diver now

Sorry Roydo but completely disagree. Even the "worst" teams in WC 2018 would have at the very least been on a par with the likes of Finland, Hungary, Scotland and Macedonia from Euro 2021.

It's arrogance to suggest that European football is that vastly superior to the game worldwide. That said, the football quality in this tournament has been very good, much better than Euro 2016.
Panama is miles worse than anything in these Euros. Sorry.

Thing is, unfancied teams from Asia / Africa sometimes just need a chance to prove their worth against top-tier teams that ordinarily they wouldn't play that often, or at all. Examples being Cameroon '90, Senegal and Korea Rep. in '02.
Ghana in 2010 had a great run.
Seems like African/Asian sides have fallen off a bit more recently. Very few have made it out of the group stage in the last two WCs and none have advanced past the round of 16

Why would people celebrate something they wouldn't usually like? It would be incredibly phony.

Some of us don't enjoy people or have different concepts of enjoyment anyway. Not everyone enjoys parties or celebrations.

Ghana benefitted from a favorable draw in that tournament. I don't think an African side is going to make it that far in 2022 without similar fortune. They aren't as good man for man usually and having the best players get together often enough to develop continuity like Denmark for example isn't really possible when they're based all over Europe.

England’s draw has been decent in this tbf.

Need that luck sometimes I guess.

I'm thinking that all the pressure that was on England last night to win the semi final, will have lessened massively with regards the final on Sunday.
If I'm correct then it'll be interesting to see how they perform against the Italians. They could actually do it.

Yep. Which is a real shame. There was a time when it looked like Pele's prediction of a World Cup winner coming from Africa soon might become a reality. Sadly that seems as far away as ever now.
