It's funny though because everyone goes at people who like stats "watch the games nerd" and I'm over here having watched like 38 or so of the 50 games thus far. And half the missed ones are the group games that started at the same time.

Nah but my job allows me to put the games on while I work from home and they're all during the work day here. They started at 9, 12 and 3 so the last game wrapped up at 5ish when I was done work. It was great.

I know. They always spend 90 mins pushing it about as though it mattered. Like watching Everton really.

Still not used to waiting to watch England in a final. Almost have to remind myself thats is the Final, and not another Semi.

Still, England have been cheated out of wins over the years (Poor Sol Campbell had it happen to him twice) so I just saw it as the universe redressing the balance

I've long wanted diving, cheating and histrionics taken out of football, but that horse has bolted the stable has been burnt down and the ashes have been urinated on a long time ago

Maradonna not getting a respective ban for 86 was the moment the football authorities lost any and all right to legislate on this sort of thing and the players recognised it. If he got banned for the rest of the tournament then it may have been stamped it out then and there, but he didn't and when you can allow something like that at a World Cup then it's all over

It'll never go out of the game, so you either do it or fall behind the rest

Cheat or not banning Maradona from football would have been a travesty!
And in the same way as is happening after the England game and the Danes moral indignation there was a massive hypocrisy in England’s fume against Maradona. If you watch that game the England players themselves cheated by purposefully attempting to hack him off the pitch. It was vicious!
