I don’t believe it was a dive either, though I think he did for our first goal and I’ll admit that Liverpool were not offside in that game they drew with us!I didn't ignore the rest. There can be contact and a dive but I still don't believe he dived. In the box there aren't only two consequences of someone going down: dive or foul.
I didn’t think it was a pen and it rather soured the result for me at the time but watching it back I can see why it was given.
Without some kind of reenactment where you would take one player running at the same speed sterling was and apply the exact amount of pressure that both defenders did in two different directions how can any of us truly know for sure if he intentionally dived or was knocked off balance (or both!).
The ref was a meter away and literally bending down with his eyes watching intently I really do think he thought it was a pen. VAR checked to see if there was contact and then supported the decision of the man on the ground.
