Euro2020 Knock Out Rounds

It's strangely silent on that front mate.

I'm not talking about the result...which anyone could have predicted....I'm talking of the people who insisted that I was impugning the England fan base, which I was being told had turned over a new leaf in the caring, sharing, inclusive and progressive Garreth Southgate era.

They remain silent this morning. Funnily enough.

OK, I will bite.

One thing I will say is that a lot of people are saying that the squad stands for inclusiveness. They cannot control the entire fan base, they are promoting equality, they are saying all the right things in a fractured society.

There will always be idiots that go against that mantra, not every single person will be a 'nice' person and act in a responsible manner. The issue today is that the volume of idiots was far too big to consider any defence. It is still the minority but unfortunately for us the minority is far to big and it needs to be addressed by the relevant authorities. This does not mean the football squad and officials, it means the police, etc. All the team can do is condemn these acts and continue to speak in a positive manner, which cannot be seen as a bad thing.

Although, more than likely if they stay silent they get slammed but it would also seem that they get slammed if they talk about it and condemn it.

Sterling in his career has taken 5.
Missed 3.
Still, better than letting Saka or Rashford to take. Same goes to Grealish. Did they say 'I won't, boss, if it's ok', that's the important q.

That's what I;ve been saying all along mate. The team and its manager can offer a lead, but to no avail.

This country is getting more and more dangerously extremist by the passing months.

A few touchy-feely comments from Southgate about "coming together" is never going to cut it.

By the way, Southgate's own words about the German game ENCOURAGED those xenophobic forces we all need to combat right now.

That rat's contribution to the final was to try and cheat another penalty.

As I said, after the SF, he might get away with that against little Denmark but not the mighty Italy.

It's a large minority.

The racism and xenophobic behaviour has ramped up with Brexit and this problem is getting worse not better.

That was always the tragi-comic claim that Southgate could have an impact for the better. It's like trying to grow roses on a cesspit.
I agree absolutely about where ramping up xenophobia for Brexit has got the country. Absolutely shocking, and entirely predictable. It will take years to recover. But in the 30's crowds turned out for Mosely and the British Union of Fascists - filling Earls Court for example. They did not win. But it makes it all the more vital not to abandon the England team to that shower. Out them for what they are. It's our flag, not theirs. Remember Cable Street too.

They didn't win then. They won't now. They can't be ignored, but they do not represent England or Britain

Completely agree. There were 60,000 fans in the stadium and it sounded like most were happy to boo Italy's national anthem. Same for the other games. It wasn't just a few, like people want to believe.

Being passive while those around you are abusive makes you complicit. It's as simple as that.

We dont need just England managers and players speaking out, we need the more substantial forces of trade uunions, the Labour Party, the Greens, Plaid Cymru and the SNP and every progressive civil organisation in the nation to come together and snuff out this insidious move toward fascism and - the corporate fascism of this particular Tory Government.
