That's what I;ve been saying all along mate. The team and its manager can offer a lead, but to no avail.

This country is getting more and more dangerously extremist by the passing months.

A few touchy-feely comments from Southgate about "coming together" is never going to cut it.

By the way, Southgate's own words about the German game ENCOURAGED those xenophobic forces we all need to combat right now.

I personally think we have all been singing from the same hymn sheet, just coming at it from different angles.

My angle is that the squad should be admired for the way they have conducted themselves, not shot down. They are trying to use their position to affect change, will they be successful, most likely not but that is not a reason to give up now. If anything some of the stuff that has already happened should mean they double down on the their rhetoric.

Rashford, especially, has physically looked to change and has been extremely successful. Unfortunately, some people will see him missing a penalty as bigger than what he has achieved off the pitch, hopefully most will recognise that football is a game. What he has done for school children up and down the country is more than a game.

I didn't read the full article, as I have it a few on here put a different context on those comments. I couldn't personally comment though as I did not read the full article.

Can't help but feel that the silence in the stadium for the majority of the game aided the Italians. I've never seen a stadium feel so empty with so many people in it, and I've watched Chelsea play.

The fans were either too pissed by HT or taken so much bad coke that they were chewing their seat

still getting over last night's total bottle job.

I don't think that Southgate should be exempt from scrutiny. People think he's the Messiah for leading us to the WC semis, and then Euro final, but we underperformed badly last night, and I think that there's every possibility this tournament is going to prove a false dawn.

Once again we got outplayed and outfought, this time on home turf. Our performance was sub par and tactically inept. The goal aside, did we even force one save from their GK? At the other end, Pickford was our outstanding player, and that is never a good thing when you are in a major final with home advantage. Might have to wait another 55 years before these circumstances come round again.

Well it's terrible technique and got found out both them, they need good dressing down, those two cost us. The other 3 by Kane Maguire and Sakka, was the way, feel for young Sakka, proper footballer that one. No wonder he has steamed ahead there is none of that what about me from him...

They were terrible penalties because they both did the pre-kick delay thing to try to outpsych the 'keeper... instead of just picking your spot and trusting in your technique. That's why you practice penalties over and over... to refine your technique. You don't do the jiggy thing in training because you can never recreate the tension. The only think you can do is hone your technique to blast an unstoppable penalty, and then hope that it stands up under the pressure of knockout tournament competition. They didn't trust their training.. That's why it was a complete bottle job.
