Completely agree. There were 60,000 fans in the stadium and it sounded like most were happy to boo Italy's national anthem. Same for the other games. It wasn't just a few, like people want to believe.

Being passive while those around you are abusive makes you complicit. It's as simple as that.

Southgate wanted it both ways on that. He appealed for respect for the anthems, but his interview of two days ago showed that he appreciated and understood the hard edge of nationalism that got his team a win against Germany.

I think we all believed the hype that he was actually a decent player and would steady the midfieod. If he was fit then his players days are numbered as he was woeful. When he tried to pass forward I think he found a player once.
