After watching the vid of that 07/08 season, I really question how fans cannot want some of that again? I wasn't thinking about how much we'd earn in revenue at the Fiorentina game as I'm sure plenty of you weren't.

As it stands, we're looking at (from a few of the more well know leagues):

England
Us (obvs)
Spurs
Hull

Italy
Fiorentina
Inter
Torino

Spain
Sevilla
Real Sociedad
Villereal

Germany
Wolsburg
Monchengladbach
Mainz

France
Lille
Saint Etiene
Lyon

Holland
Twente
PSV

Russia
Lokamotiv Moscow
Dynamo Moscow
Kransodar

Portugal
Estoril
Nacional

Scotland
Aberdeen
Motherwell

Greece
Panithinikos
PAOK
A. Tripoli

Then you have the 3rd place sides from the cl groups drop in

Could you imagine a potential Merseyside derby in europe? Shudders at the thought

That of course doesn't even factor some of the possible Champions League rejects like Celtic, Porto, Benfica, Bilbao, Napoli, Roma, Leverkusen, Feyenord etc...

TL;DR

From the looks of it I'd easily have us as one of the top 5-7 sides in the competition, before the Champions League group losers come into play.

There's not a lot there that genuinely scares me...

Same here, I'd say Everton, Spurs, Fiorentina, Inter and the Spanish teams are probably the best from that list. Of course, that would likely change once the 3rd place teams from the CL groups come into play.

As I said in my previous post we have an awful coefficient, we're currently on 23.435 points, ranked 82nd. http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/season=2014/index.html

The EL group stages drawings are potted by coefficient, the lowest team last season in Pot 1 was AZ Alkmaar who's points were 39.445 (they're now on 44.929). So going by that it means we'll more than likely be in pot 2.

So as it stands right now we could be in a group with...

Title holder - Sevilla / Benfica
5th in Spain - Sevilla (if they lose against Benfica, Real Sociadad would go into it if they win, but they have a lower coefficient that us)
5th in Germany - Wolfsburg
Italy cup winner - Napoli (If Napoli finished 3rd they will qualify for the CL play-off round, therefore 4th place (currently Fiorentina) would go straight into the EL group stage. Napoli if they lost their CL play-off game would go into the EL group stage).

That is messed up.

What's the chances of a scottish team reaching the group stages?

Slim to none.

Celtic were in the group stage a few years back. I remember Hearts playing Tottenham and Liverpool in successive years in the play offs a few years ago too.
