Some really well known names on that list. I've never understood why the Europa gets such a bad press in this country. Hope we give it a really good shot. The night of the Fiorentina game was one of the best atmospheres I've known at Goodison for years.

I'm hoping we get Borussia Monchengladbach at some point - remember going to see us play them back in 1970/71 in the then European Cup (Champions League equivalent, but for champions only). Both games finished 1-1 so it went to penalties. They'd only been introduced that season - it was toss of a coin before that - and ours was the first match ever to be decided by them. I remember being behind the goal at the Gladwys Street end where the pens were taken. When we missed our first one and they scored theirs half the crowd (including me) thought we were out as we didn't realise you got 5 pens - thought it was sudden death. Anyway, we got through so although some people may think our record in penalty shoot-outs is average, we were the first team ever to progress in this way.
It was a fabulous night. No one Had a clue how the pennos worked at first! BM were an excellent side, we were ace, struggled in league but were really good that night. Ace save by stand in keeper Andy Rankin.

Right.

I need GOT's educated opinion.

Am I likely to be able to get 5/6 tickets for an away Europa game?

I know we don't know where etc, but barring in mind I'll have no 'credits' or whatever.

Not likely is it?

Just started looking at roughly how much it would cost to get to some of these places.

Monchengladbach would be boss. You can get a return flight from Manchester to Dusseldorf for just £78 with FlyBe. Dusseldorf to Monchengladbach is just 30 minutes away by car/bus.

£78 for a return flight is tremendous, when you consider it costs £30 just to get the coach from Goodison to London aways.

Nice thinking, but now, start think about places like this.

Where they allow a maximum of 50 fans go, and have to go with the Charter flight. lol

You need to get the megabus more often. It travels to Cologne so not far from Monchengladbach :)

I went to both Nuremberg in 2007 & Liege in 2008 on a coach from Liverpool. For Nuremberg, I went with Hans Tours. Liege was with the club, we got picked up outside the old Walton Hospital rather than at Goodison, for some reason. Quite the experience, but if I can afford it, this time I think I'll go for the 2 hour flight as opposed to the near 24 hour journey by road to get there.;)

Nuremberg in particular was a mad period. Left Liverpool outside St Georges Hall on Wednesday afternoon, got there Thursday lunchtime. Left Nuremberg late on Thursday night, got back in Liverpool on Friday night (after ferry delays, the coach breaking down in Belgium during a mild snow storm, you name it). Then Sunday morning, back down to Chelsea for the league game and home again.

Bring it on!

Because we won't be able to sing that Champions League "is this the way to Barcelona?" song next season, maybe we could just tweak the lyrics for the Europa League? How about

Is this the way to Fiorentina;
PSV and Nicosia;
How much are flights to eastern Slovenia?
Thursday nights are proper boss!
Nah nah nahhh nah nah nah nah na

Not as 'braggy' though is it :)
