Not the best of days for us in the Champions League really.
Panathinaikos i think are poor, they've gone out to Líege, 2-1 on aggregate. So they'll get an unseeded team in the next round. They have a coefficient of 30.221, which again is higher than Everton.
Celtic, who are, as it stands 2-0 down at home to Legia Warsaw, are set to go out, their coefficient of 36.813, is superior to ours, so if you're basing it on teams who are 'expected' to go through, then Everton would actually drop a place in the coefficients.
Sparta Prague went out after losing on the away goal ruling to Malmo FF, after a 2-0 defeat, saw them draw 4-4 on aggregate. Their coefficient of 28.870, is better than Everton's.
A result which would have affected us regardless was Dnipro Vs. Copenhagen. Dnipro were eliminated after losing 2-0 on the night and on aggregate. Their coefficient of 32.193 is better than Everton's again, but we neither move up, or down. Copenhagen, with a coefficient of 45.260, are still active, and subsequently, their place will mean Everton cannot gain from them progressing, we knew this already, as they are part of the 6 teams with higher coefficient in the final round of the CL.
As it stands, RB Salzburg are due to progress, as they are leading 2-0 on the night to Garabag of Azerbaijan, and 3-2 on aggregate, their progression is good for Everton, as Qarabag have a lower coefficent than Everton, whereas Salzburg do not.
Another positive for Everton is that Steaua Bucharest progressed, their higher coefficient meant that they'd go above Everton, Aktobe have a lower coefficient. This is a plus.
Besiktas progressing, could be seen as a negative, as Feijinoord were knocked out. Besiktas, with a coefficient of 32.840, progressing means that 5 teams with a higher coefficient are guaranteed to drop in from the Champions League final round into the Group stage, they can no longer be eliminated earlier.
Zenit progressed against AEL, so their coefficient carries on, which is a plus for Everton.
