Bolasie had a song about him
Can't remember a word uttered in support of Davy
So klassen wins
Klaassen was manifestly poor. Easily one of the most ineffective players I've ever seen in a blue shirt.

However... we shipped him out fairly sharpish, and got most of our money back. So, in the context of a thread called "Worst ever signing" where we are specifically asked to consider value for money, he's not the worst.

If we're talking about value for money we need to consider the fee paid, the amount of that recouped (or not), the wages "earned" and the level of performance delivered by said players. Bolasie, Tosun and Sigurdsson are the standout candidates, and the jury is out on Iwobi.

Do feel for Bolasie as that injury was a definition of career ending and he looked pretty handy and someone who would consistently chip in with goals and assists (and he was forming a good partnership with Lukaku). Would like to have seen how we'd rate him if he didn't get the injury - that being said it happened and unfortunately he's come back and he's not been good enough to the level required which says something when his main competition was a geriatric Rooney and Gylfi on the wings.

Gylfi at least had one good season but this season and last season for £40m it's a massive overspend. Ashley Williams forever winds me up, perhaps the only player in Blue I've genuinely disliked (although Schneiderlin is close) consistent in mistakes, liverpool fan, arrogant for no reason, shirt over his head every game. He gets my vote.

Oumar gave us another great moment when he scored for Hull against the RS - picked the ball up in the centre-circle, streaked clear of their defence, drew the keeper and slipped it into the net. Reminded me of vintage Jimmy Greaves.
Very enjoyable performance that.
But comparing him to Jimmy Greaves???
Greaves was only ever in the centre circle for kick offs.

Ronald Koeman is by far the most expensive & damaging mistake in the club’s history.

Player wise sadly, plenty of contenders, but I’d have to go with Samuel Eto’o.

One brilliant ball into the box in his debut, followed by nothing except poison in the dressing room.

I think Bolasie averaged two goals a season in his premiership career. The fact that he isn't our worst value for money signing says a lot about our transfer policy in the 2010s.

We have had some shockers recently, value for money in the modern market is hard to judge. None of them are worth there market value. I honestly don't think you can judge on value for money until they've left really as whose to know what might happen, Gylfi might turn all Messi on us.

Some harsh ones there tbh. Gbammin has been injured, could turn out to be quality and Gomes was genuinely quality before his injury and has shown flashes since.
Klaasen was a horrible signing but it wasn’t his fault and he never really played and we got good money back for him.
Sigurdsson however has had a continued impact on us being awful and is still our record signing. His name on a team sheet makes me sad.
