Bit harsh on Mykolenko and Lindstrom here to be honest.

I'm not a fan of Myko but he actually did alright today and could tell he was giving his all to try and impress. Set up 2 good chances with a through ball to DCL and a cut back cross to Doucs. Hopefully he hasn't deceived his way into making Moyes think we don't need a new LB though.

Lindstrom also worked hard and tried to make things happen when he came on, set up DCL for the last chance of the game which should have been buried.

I think Lindstrom should be given a proper run in the team under Moyes, he's definitely infinitely better than Harrison (not hard).

Mykolenko churns out the same crap every week, and it's getting worse (somehow).

Is just absolutely garbage. Can't control a ball and can't stop putting hands on opposition. The amount of times I've seen him lose possession or give sloppy fouls away over the last weeks is ridiculous

The thing I absolutely despise is the whole "do the same thing over and over again but expect different results". Moyes did that with Phil fn Neville for YEARS despite him being the absolute worst player on the pitch. Dominic Calvert-Lewin should be absolutely nowhere near the entire squad. He's been dreadful for eons. I don't care that he runs the channels, this isn't the 90s. Your striker has to actually do SOMETHING these days and he does literally nothing of note. I haven't thought he's been a good striker for years, at this point I'm utterly done with any pretense. He's absolutely [Poor language removed].

Doucoure legs have gone but he made runs all bloody night hoping to be picked out. Lad never stopped. All across their front line non stop. Yes he is laboured but his effort was there. There is no guile in the team. No oomph.

Hugely encouraging start to the Moyes era. Villa are in the CL, but they certainly didn't outclass us.

Onana should have been sent off in the first half and we should have had a penalty, but thems the breaks.

We now have nine cup finals before we say goodbye to Goodison.

The only positives from today, Moyes now knows how bad Harrison is, how slow Young is and that Calvert Lewin couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. Plus, the teams below us Lost as well. Worrying though, these players have zero confidence.

I agree. He had one good year under Ancelotti and every other year he looks like a home grown player we are waiting to come good, but he never does.

Negatives

I know it’s slim pickings in the squad but Harrison, Doucure and Tarks shouldn’t be starting matches - hopefully Moyes was just taking stock properly.

Squad still reeks of Dyche walkers negativity - that will take some time to coach out of them.

The referee had a horror show. Disgraceful decisions - think he was the same the last time he reffed us, we need to complain.

Positives

More attacking intent on show, more threat from the fullbacks, more intensity across the park.

Change of shape when chasing the game.

Loads more possession.

Bit unlucky to give the ball away for their goal.

Back Moyes in this window and I think we will be ok, I wouldn’t have said that with Dyche.

I still think Moyes gets more than 17 points and more than 3 wins in the rest of the season.

He should easily do considering Dyche kept us up in worse circumstances in 22/23, I agree with you
