Have to say, the corner routines were absolutely pitiful. Made Mings look like prime John Terry. The combination of not being able to miss him and players not being able to win a header was shocking.
Agree. We were wasteful not trying anything different. Just lob it in for Mings to clear. But Mings is a bit of a monster in the air, an old fashioned grock. When Dom was playing well and jumping like a salmon to win headers against most teams, he'd never geet any joy out of Mings (or Maguire, as I remember).

Defllated annd felling miserable after that , wasnt overjoyed with Moyes appointment then after reading about his pally call with Dyche who gave him the lowdown on players I expected the worst with team selection. To be fair we played marginally better and slightly more attacking than usual and could/should have nabbed a draw. Need new faces in and a change in first team selection to Young and Harrison. All Other teams get a new manager bounce apart from us it seems! even Perreira got 7 pts on the bounce at Wolves! what we would give for that …

I was encouraged by the performance , which still had Dyches breath all over it.

Thought Villa were streaky to get the win tbh, and with more consistent, better officials and VAR, I think the outcome is different.

Theres two solid penalty shouts that I’ve seen given for most other teams in the league this season totally missed/ignored, then the fouling and subsequent playacting/diving from the Villa side was laughable, but the ref bought every dive and ignored many of their fouls - we need to complain as it isn’t the first time he’s reffed us so badly.

Hopefully that’s the last we see of doucure, Harrison and young - simply not good enough.

We need to change the shape to 3-5-2, get obrien in at cb, patto and Myko pushed higher up as proper wing backs and get ndiaye in the centre of the pitch behind the striker - hopefully it won’t take Moyes too long to realise this. Lindstrom behind the striker would be interesting to.

Be nice to have other options back from injury, and with a few signings I at least have some hope now.

Crowd were ok but quietened quickly, we need to do more and make Goodison shake for her last 9 league games.
Crowd need to do a lot more as we’re going down without a whimper.

Villa are a tough team we did better second half but serious lack of quality, cutting edge and belief. Worrying

From a Villa perspective....

and I'll start by acknowledging that I'll be seeing the game a lot differently to many of you I'm assuming.

We deserved the win and were the better team. We did create some decent chances and looked more assured on the ball and could and probably should have been 2 up at half time. That has been our failing for the most part in the final third this season - the lack of a bit of calm in front of goal and chances are missed rather than forcing saves.

Second-half we did drop off deliberately I feel and its something we've done many times when winning. Not always successfully I'll add. But I think Emery is trying to turn us into how top European teams play when they get their noses in front and they control the game without the ball, and to a large extent I think it was the difference between the two teams in that we were better without the ball than Everton were.

I obviously haven't seen that much of you but it looked like a typical Moyes team as the second-half wore on with the ball being crossed or put into the mixer and luckily for us we had Mings rather than Torres out there as that's his meat and drink, Kamara and Konsa excelled too.

For the goal I think Pickford made it very easy for Watkins. Not sure what he was doing coming flying out and left part of the goal unattended for Watkins to simply roll the ball in to. Made what could have been a slightly tricky finish into a simple rolling of the ball into an empty net.

Onana - played well and I'm glad he didn't get a second yellow for obvious reasons. But I think the Everton player went down looking for it, and the reaction of the Everton players was disgraceful - rushing out to surround the referee to try and get him sent-off. Every single one of those players should have been carded (I think only two were).

Penalty claim? Not for me. I think that referees and rule makers have lost the ability to call fouls at corners now because they have allowed seemingly anything to happen. The Lindstrom push probably went against him because of how he went down. The follow-through arm from Rogers didn't match the theatrics of the Everton player so VAR probably decided that it wasn't that much of a push as he clearly made more of it than there was. If he had stayed on his feet VAR would still have picked up on the push and may have had more sympathy towards the attacking player. and decided he had been impeded. So, because of that I never really thought and pen would be given - its VAR though so you just never know.

Right result for me, and I think if we had have wanted to we would have raised our game another gear. We didn't need to and as poor as you were I think Moyes will get you playing probably with the same Dyche system, but more direct. What you missed was any creativity so you'll have to play to the strengths of width and balls into the box.

We go on to the next game with 3 hard earned, but fully deserved, points and a farewell to Goodison. Good luck for the rest of the season.

So in summary you thought we shouldn’t have had a penalty, Onana no second yellow card was the right decision and that even if we had scored Villa would have upped a gear and still beaten us.

Honourable mention that the Everton players are a disgrace, Pickfords fault for the goal and we are essentially s**t.

To get a new manager bounce you generally need to bring a manager in who offers new ideas instead we go for more of the same replacing a dinosaur with an older version of the same.
Mourinho is the same age as Moyes but can you imagine him ringing Dyche to get the low down on the team i don't think so.
I don't want to be negative and I really want Moyes to do well but I can't help feeling that changing manager was our last throw of the dice and we have wasted it.
Dyche apparently said he has left the team in good shape really?

Ha - football fans do tend to see things their way obviously but if you want to widen the scope rather than a few individual moments I can be more even handed. For a start I thought Ashley Young was marvellous...
