Had chances to get something and VAR will have to explain why no penalty.

Villa with 11 behind the ball for 40 mins and we never really broke them down.

Very disappointing.
Nah, neatly brushed under the carpet. TNT didn't discuss it in the after match analysis. MOTD didn't show it. Even though there were two possible infringements to consider VAR dismissed it in double quick time.

Probably the worst Everton team, offensively, I have ever seen.
We offer nothing going forward.
We need 2 or 3 quality attacking players, including a goalscorer, in Jan, otherwise it will be a very long season.
It's an absolute miracle we are not in the relegation places.
For all those saying that the players were better than Dyche's tactics.
I give you tonight's performance.
This squad is pants.
Correct. I was not a fan of Dyche this season, last season he did incredibly well with the hand he was dealt, but truth is we have some overrated, poor players, some who do not seem bothered. And no bench.

From a Villa perspective....

and I'll start by acknowledging that I'll be seeing the game a lot differently to many of you I'm assuming.

We deserved the win and were the better team. We did create some decent chances and looked more assured on the ball and could and probably should have been 2 up at half time. That has been our failing for the most part in the final third this season - the lack of a bit of calm in front of goal and chances are missed rather than forcing saves.

Second-half we did drop off deliberately I feel and its something we've done many times when winning. Not always successfully I'll add. But I think Emery is trying to turn us into how top European teams play when they get their noses in front and they control the game without the ball, and to a large extent I think it was the difference between the two teams in that we were better without the ball than Everton were.

I obviously haven't seen that much of you but it looked like a typical Moyes team as the second-half wore on with the ball being crossed or put into the mixer and luckily for us we had Mings rather than Torres out there as that's his meat and drink, Kamara and Konsa excelled too.

For the goal I think Pickford made it very easy for Watkins. Not sure what he was doing coming flying out and left part of the goal unattended for Watkins to simply roll the ball in to. Made what could have been a slightly tricky finish into a simple rolling of the ball into an empty net.

Onana - played well and I'm glad he didn't get a second yellow for obvious reasons. But I think the Everton player went down looking for it, and the reaction of the Everton players was disgraceful - rushing out to surround the referee to try and get him sent-off. Every single one of those players should have been carded (I think only two were).

Penalty claim? Not for me. I think that referees and rule makers have lost the ability to call fouls at corners now because they have allowed seemingly anything to happen. The Lindstrom push probably went against him because of how he went down. The follow-through arm from Rogers didn't match the theatrics of the Everton player so VAR probably decided that it wasn't that much of a push as he clearly made more of it than there was. If he had stayed on his feet VAR would still have picked up on the push and may have had more sympathy towards the attacking player. and decided he had been impeded. So, because of that I never really thought and pen would be given - its VAR though so you just never know.

Right result for me, and I think if we had have wanted to we would have raised our game another gear. We didn't need to and as poor as you were I think Moyes will get you playing probably with the same Dyche system, but more direct. What you missed was any creativity so you'll have to play to the strengths of width and balls into the box.

We go on to the next game with 3 hard earned, but fully deserved, points and a farewell to Goodison. Good luck for the rest of the season.
To be fair mate. This is from a Villa perspective and it’s nonsense.

Ha - football fans do tend to see things their way obviously but if you want to widen the scope rather than a few individual moments I can be more even handed. For a start I thought Ashley Young was marvellous...
Correct. He wrote "Pickfords fault for the goal"... what planet is that lad on?

To get a new manager bounce you generally need to bring a manager in who offers new ideas instead we go for more of the same replacing a dinosaur with an older version of the same.
Mourinho is the same age as Moyes but can you imagine him ringing Dyche to get the low down on the team i don't think so.
I don't want to be negative and I really want Moyes to do well but I can't help feeling that changing manager was our last throw of the dice and we have wasted it.
Dyche apparently said he has left the team in good shape really?
agree

Yes you definitely saw it a lot different from me, you saw it as a biased Villa supporter would see. Yes you deserved the win but the methods applied give you little credit on the footballing side, with the falling over and staying down after nearly every Everton tackle and the referee falling for it and giving fee kicks for them, the time wasting and a lot of the chances you had were created by errors from Everton players. You played a very poor team who didn’t do enough on the new managers first game and picked the same team as the man he displaced, used the same subs, two of them with ten minutes to go, his first game so no stick yet, but he will have to improve very quickly or the many who didn’t want him back here will soon let him know, has he got it in him to change and improve us or is he too old to change his mediocre career.

"You're a biased Villa supporter so let me give you my biased Everton reasons as to why you're wrong" ah, the beauty of supporting football and why glory-hunters will never ever get it. On another note I will miss Goodison and have had some great times supporting Villa there. Its a sad farewell to another Archibald Leitch ground.

You need to form your own opinions on the players and not a failed ex manager of them, I knew Young, Doucoure and Harrison would start after reading this.

''Moyes said: "I spoke to Dychey on Saturday. I wanted to be clear that I wasn't sitting here taking his job because Dychey is a friend as well. I think Dychey, to be fair as well, I think he said that he was expecting people to be maybe having a look around. But it was all so tight, the period of the changeover, so Dychey told me, he spoke about the players to me and gave me an indication of - we didn’t go through every single player, but we went through quite a lot of them''

Thought villa edged it but they were no means fantastic. Had more chances than us but poor finishing. Can't see them getting top 4. Probably fighting Bournemouth, Brighton for euro conf league spot

However we were poor again last night. Had a few chances. Moyes knows now how poor we are in all areas but especially creating goals. Only been here a couple of days so will cut him slack.

Confidence is absolutely shot. Moyes will do well to get that up. Day out at Blackpool, on the beer, fish and chips, kiss me quick hats and a couple of rounds on the dodgems.

Always love a patronising head pat from other teams fans, love it.

BTW - Your keeper is ALWAYS rushing out....and pretty much won the world cup for his country doing it...its what the top keepers do, take chances and close the angles to force the striker into a decisions.... What Pickford did in the frst half did exactly that, and put Watkins off.

Agree 100%, and after all those seasons where we as a fanbase and club in general have pinned our hopes on our former striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting back to full fitness and turning things around for us this is where he is, absolutely hopeless.

maybe - but top class goalkeepers get their angles right. Yes Pickford did it first half but it was made easier by Watkins coming at angle. The goal he ran through the middle and was slightly to the left. Pickford made a hash of his positioning and was culpable for the ease of the goal. Watkins may have scored anyway, but Pickford did make it easy for him.

I think you need to watch the goal again, nothing wrong with the angle....he come out to close the gap and Watkins timmed his shot well under pickford.

Maybe Pickford could have stayed on his feet longer, but he is pushing Watkins into a decsions, that this time he got right.

Paint the first one how you like, but Pickford pushed him into that missed shot.
