Just got back home, what a looooong day. Can't really be bothered to trawl through the whole thread and I probably don't have anything new to say.... But I'm gonna say it anyway, deal with it biatchs.

Ross Barkley. PHWOAR. How is he only 17?? Makes me wonder what I'm doing with my life! The best player on the pitch by a mile. Showed passion, commitment, and ability on the ball. Couple of dodgy shots but at least he was trying to make something happen (more than can be said for everyone else). We've got a real gem on our hands here. Shouldn't get too carried away but wow, what a man! Go on Rossotron lad.

Right, now that the positives are out the way..... Rodwell on the right?! WTF?! I'd just about forgotten about the horrible nightmare that was Villa away last season when we were subjected to the same odd spectacle. He's about as much of a right winger than I am the Pope. Although to be fair I'd make a pretty awesome Pope. But this is besides the point. Rodwell and Neville has to be one of the worst right flanks imaginable. I mean, much as Victor was awful last season, at least he puts himself about a bit. Would have much rather seen him starting. I'm not gonna slate Jackie and say we should sell him. I still think he's got a lot of potential. But we need to find his best position (not right wing for the love of God) and give him games there. Crow barring him into the side isn't going to do him (or us) any good whatsoever. In terms of the RW position I guess that will be solved once Coleman's back, but it's surely worth giving Vic a go in the meantime. If not then Rossy boy, although I'd like us to find a space for him centrally really.

I don't understand why there was no urgency in the team. It's our first game of the season, everyone should be fit and fresh yet we were jogging around like it was a pre season game. Unbelievable. Even Bainesey looked pretty lethargic. And Cahill, what on earth?! I mean, I love the man, but he missed a header from 2 yards out?! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

I did hear a genuine "dese are ****e dese" though which made the afternoon slightly better. Gaaaaaaaaaah.

I'll stop rambling now, I'm gonna go collapse on my bed. Things can only get better right???

But we need to find his best position (not right wing for the love of God) and give him games there.

Unfortunately Rodwell's best position is Centre-Back and Moyes (or any other PL manager we could loan him too) does not trust him there because of his age and inexperience. So he was told to play as a Midfielder and because he can't get games there due to out depth in that area, he's been forced out wide.

Fellaini is probably my favourite player and I thought he did alright when he came on considering where he had to play but when I saw it was Beckford he was coming on for I was gobsmacked. Then to make things worse he stays further forward while Cahill drops back. Baffled. It was always in the back of my mind not to expect too much and I actually predicted 1-1 but I could not see us losing. Same old start of season story but can only fear for us this year and it might not get much better.

Strange line up to start, lacking any presence and I wish Heitinga would impose himself a bit, he never really gets stuck in or makes himself available for the pass. Feel really sorry for Barkley, he had good performance but the majority of his team mates let him down.

Came away thoroughly depressed today. Any time we play a "lesser" team at home who pack the mid-field and look to play on the break we struggle. Why Rodwell was played wide right today was baffling. I actually felt sorry for the lad. I imagine it was to allow Osman to play centrally. He was abysmal. Every now and then he will have a decent game, but overall he should be no more than a useful squad player. Why we stick with 4-5-1 at home against teams like this is beyond me. I guess it's so that Cahill can play. Again, I thought he was abysmal today. His best days are way behind him now.
This formation away from home against a decent side, fair enough - you can play on the break and have numbers back when you don't have the ball. It does need a specific type of front man to play lone striker, though, and Beckford is not that type. Marcus Bent was great at it (but limited elsewhere), but Beckford would be better playing in a forward line with width.
Can't imagine Moyes changing anything and we will no doubt trot out in the same formaton against Villa in a couple of weeks time. In Moyes We Rust.

Well and I will probably get a bit of flack for this but reckon I have been proved right today already.
At the end of last season I made the decision that this season instead of paying a lot of money to watch the same old same old I would watch football at none league level so since the 6 August when the NWCL started have been going to watch Bootle.
When you compare the 2 clubs Bootle with a strong squad from last season which they finished in good form have strenthened it and so far this season have a record of played 4 won 2 drawn 2.
Compared to our record of played 1 at home against a team thrashed 4-0 at home by a team of no marks last week who should have been there for the taking.
Will always be a blue but not prepared to put up with this anymore

Having seen the highlights Jags was left a bit exposed by Neville and Heitinga. He had to go to the ball, but Distin needed to come across quicker to pick up Smith.

Cahill could have easily had a hattrick on another day. Baines was unlucky too. And Barkley's going to score goals if he keeps shooting like that. Fellaini looked like a handful in a more advanced position as well.

I thought at the time it all stemmed from Neville backing off almost into the 6 yard box. Must be petrified he's going to get skinned.

Its going to get worse before it gets better!

Well there we have it, all these failures off the pitch now that sh!te today on the pitch, Ross Barkley the exception, I hope were all prepared for a pathetic season if that is anything to go by today! Our once massive club is fooked and i hate to say it but its going to get a hell of a lot worse before it gets better!
It really is doom and gloom, and im not having this were slow starters sh!te!
No pride,No passion and No ideas, i mean our only recognised forward taken off for a midfielder when there was another forward on the bench. WTF was Moyes thinking FFS?
STILL FUMING (SORRY)!

From the radio commentary I was expecting much worse from Jags. I think he was in two minds whether to hoof it or try and find a man and he ended up just blocking it away. Our general level of defending has been sub-standard for a good while now.

I think in all honesty, we need to change things round a wee bit. The fact that Ross Barkley is basically considered a fresh face is quite poor in all honesty.

I'd be all for a sell to buy idea really, I don't know why we're stubbornly clinging onto what we've got, and it's becoming stale.

Even with the missed chances, I love him as a player. Honest, takes personal blame, and addresses the fans. Pure class.
