Well it seems like some Evertonians want us to lose these days. Infact some have as much stated that. Which is a joke really.

Its not like we haven't sold off the experienced attacking flair from the club is it like? Or multiple other reasons why form has been hard to come by.

For all the stick Damon gets on here, I defy anyone on here to contradict what's been said above with a straight face.

1) Our form sucks right now.

2) Selling Arteta and Yakubu has had a demonstrable effect on our ability to score.

I don't disagree that many times, Evertonians see only what they want to see without taking into account ALL variables and cherry pick what makes their case if you will.

We had Yakubu, Pienaar and Arteta in the squad when we had an almost identical start to the 2010/11 campaign.

It's a factor, but at the end of the day we were playing Tamworth today and didn't score a goal in open play over 90 minutes at home.

See my post above.

Once again it's a combination of factors that has lead us to where we are.

But again, if you think that not having Arteta and Yakubu, and to a lesser extent Pienaar should not be in anyway be taken into account, I think that you'd be mistaken.

I'm not saying that, but I am saying that you're comparing the identical parts of two seasons and those players played in the last season without producing any different results.

It's not cherry picking if it's a logical counter argument. You could say Arteta, Pienaar and Yak would make a difference, but when they were in their last season at Everton one developed the nickname "Crab" because of his sideways, poor passing and awful set-pieces, the other had his head in the clouds and wanted out since August and the last one was overweight and demanding a payrise.

Imagine if we'd kept them here with those problems, they'd be even worse.

The fact we haven't replaced them is the real issue, and I've never said otherwise - but that said, we were playing a mid-table semi-professional conference side today and we've failed to turn up completely against Premier League makeweights like QPR and Stoke at home. There should still be enough quality to overcome such opposition, and it's fair to say Moyes is not using the assets at his disposal, especially given that this is his own assembled squad and he, according to everyone and anyone at the club, has final say-so on transfers.

I don't quite know what you're on about with cherry picking because this post of yours above actually backs up the point i've been making.

damon keeps referring back to Arteta and Pienaar when people raise the issue of us having trouble to score, as if they are some magic wand which would make us instantly score loads and take away all the troubles we have in our squad at the moment.

I was just showing that even with them in the team we struggled and in the same way as to what we are now.

Losing players never helps but it isn't the sole reason. Our problems go beyond simply the personel we have or don't have.

So Everton are sh*te. We'll also be sh*te on Weds when Spurs beat us 28-0 ( or something ).But I won't lose sleep over it as Everton Football Club is not the most important thing in my life. We won today, though, which is a bit of a bonus

So why did Arsenal want to buy Arteta then?

I get the sideways bit but to say crabs can't pass OR take set pieces is well out of order.

I had to work so didn't see the game, worth tuning in to the highlights tonight? I'm so gutted that two of our defenders scored the goals.

So why did Arsenal want to buy Arteta then?

Because he was the closest thing to a Fabregas replacement for decent money they could find.

He's doing well for them by all accounts.

But he wasn't doing particularly well for us before he left though.

Like i said, losing him and not replacing him sure as hell hasn't helped us, but by simply not having him here has hardly been the sole reason why we are struggling to score goals.

I'm just saying that was the view during his last year at Everton. He was one of my heroes but you can't deny he was pretty woeful during his last year here.

I have absolutely no idea how people think the football we played at the start of last year was as bad as how we've played this season. In the first few games of last season we were completely dominating the opposition in all aspects of football, bar a lack of cutting edge up front. Yes Arteta and Pienaar played in nearly all these games and were a large part of why we dominated the game. As for up front, I seem to remember Jermaine Beckford being our target man for at least some of this time and the ball frequently bouncing off him for no reason.

This season we have played some of the worst football I've seen and some of the reason for that is the type of lineup we're putting out. It's night and day for me.

We should have been able to beat Tamworth comfortably with our youth squad FFS.

We couldn't break them down however (in open play) and as these are semi-professional players that has to be a tactical failing on our part. You just cannot blame personnel (or a lack of), as that's absolutely ludicrous considering that even much-maligned players like McFadden are far, far too good to play for Tamworth.

Today has shown me that our lack of movement and cutting edge is that bad that a bunch of well-drilled semi-pros were able to stop us from having meaningful attempts on goal.

That's why I'm not over the moon anyway. It's embarrassing. Blackpool's second string tore apart a conference team at the same time that an Everton side featuring most of our first choice XI laboured against one.
