What West Ham had was a bit of fight and a better cutting edge, going direct, not stopping and taking the foot off the pedal.

We on the other hand hold on to possession, not create anything, and fall asleep.

I've always said, Yak should be starting over Saha cos Saha, like last week, faded big time.
Cahill started well then faded as the game went on.
Distin should've been sent off.
Overall, if Im being honest, we played okay. We just didnt have anyone in the midfield wanting to gamble and create something. I forgot Ossie was playing after 10 minutes when he should've been the one trying to open their defence up.

Anyway, season was over months ago. We've reverted back to being the old Everton of not taking the opportunities when other teams around us stumble.

More bits of the jigsaw needed, that's all. Top 4 nailed on in the next two seasons. Just be thankful for BK as chairman so we got, and still have, David Moyes as manager. Rome wasn't built on a day and certainly not on peanuts! FFS lads, let's see some perspective here!

Typical Moyes I'm afraid. That game ran away from us after half time and everyone could see it. But he only rings the changes after we concede. That's Moyesies wake up call. He just cant read a game and react promptly. It's the reason he'll never get a crack at managing any team playing for top honours.

All we needed was a clean sheet! And we couldn't even manage that... Sad to say, we missed the Spainiad big time today...

LOst it in the first half should have been five up with our dominence what the hell did we think West Ham would do in the second half with nothing to loose!

Ps: The Yak should start everytime!

* Todays match thread is scapegoated by Louis Saha!

That's what I've said. Saha was injured so Yak came in and game after game looked better and better - missed sitters when we beat Hull 5-0. Scored against Brum the week after, then we beat Bolton 2-0 after getting the freekick he won....

Then Saha comes back and he gets benched. Yes he's our top goalscorer but Yak aint no slouch and Saha should've been told to work his way back into the team, get his hunger back.

Here we go again, let down by awful tactics and late/wrong substitutions from the Moyesiah. How many more times will we here "I have a squad and will drop players if they under perform" before he actually follows up on it? Moyes doesn't seem to be changing his ways and if he doesn't realise we have a problem soon then we may as well just give up forever -.-

I wouldn't be surprised if the players set out to win the game, but to not demoralise West Ham further in the process, explaining why we sat back SO MUCH after 1-0.

Our problem against teams who come to defend is that our build up play is far too slow and predictable. Far too often players such as Cahill and Saha will lay the ball off and run into the box to wait for a cross. Only Pienaar drives forward into the space and looks to get a shot in. The full backs need to vary their delivery too. Instead of always playing the high ball that goes over everyone's heads, why not put a low one across goal every now and then? We could really do with someone like Ashley Young or Theo Walcott to give us the option to counter attack with pace. Donovan gave us that dimension to a degree, but he too often drifted inside to try and get on the end of things rather than being the one creating them.

saha has been pretty wasteful in his last few games to me he is playin on his rep not exactly my fav character to hav a round when we need to dig in

Frustrating loss, but a bit harsh on Moyes no? To be fair his starting lineup was exactly what many were asking for in this thread in the run up. And the injuries/lack of attacking options off the bench really limited him. Just seems like there aren't that many specific examples of what he should have done differently.

Granted maybe bringing Rodwell on earlier, & some growing Cahill auto-spot concerns. But in all honesty, in games like this at what point do you need to rely on your veterans & leaders to take the bull by the horns, step up, & grind out a result? Hard for me to place too much on Moyes here.

I do think this game highlights some of the depth issues as well as the clear difference Arteta makes. And, Yank bias aside, I couldn't help but think Mandon would have been a very nice option to have today. Then again, I suppose same could be said for some of the other absentees.

Saha has been largely underwhelming since the Chelsea game, I'm not sure if it's form, tactical or exertion?

Yakubu needs to start next game and one of them, at least one of them, has to try and make a stake for the place for a change.

Parker needed nullifying. Osman was a having a poor game. Rodwell on before the rot set in was the move. Moyesie doesn't see it. I think we should expect more out of a mnager than that, tbh.
