Everton Agree Fee With Man Utd For Lukaku

We need players to plug this large gap.

The entire side was built to feed Lukaku. We have seen other players games stifled, particularly Ross who has, if anything, gone backwards. Mirallas has not looked the same player either.

Rom scores. He does not make space for others. He occupies the box and demands the ball. Of course he is going to be involved in the majority of our goals.

The team should benefit if we get the balance right. Hense the major squad restructuring that is under way.

People blathering on about "net spend"...

Sometimes it can be a useful barometer... but outliers always throw things like that off.

Outliers like pretty much having to sell a player because they've outright stated they're not coming back to the team - when that player goes for £100m (plus the shifting of assorted deadwood who no one would really want around anyway) it becomes rather tricky to have a positive net spend, or certainly a significant one.

The trick in these cases is to look at the overall state of the squad, not just a simple "wahhhhhh, we brought in more money than we spent"
That's both logical and obviously correct.

But if you're intent on boring the forum to tears with some tedious agenda, is of no relevance

Difficult to find time to print booklets when you're sat in on transfer negotiations all day

lol he understands you being sceptical mate with the fanzine owners running it from a 6 form college in Levenshulme but we should give him the benefit of doubt on this one because he's saying they ain't winning the CL so we can't trigger one of the clauses they have put in.

Dave bringing a knife to the gunfight as always..sigh.

That's all it is: recycling. It's what we do. If Moshiri and his spinners would just STFU with their spin about things changing in the transfer market for us and concentrated on getting a stadium built it wouldn't be such an issue.

It's now time for anyone arguing that real change and a new financial model is in play to put that fantasy away and start getting real.

Recycling is what every club does Dave, whether through player performance/age/not settling etc, its part and parcel of every club. You cannot and will not have the same squad of 25 for 8 - 10 seasons, it just doesn't happen. The issue becomes when you take the transfer fees and not reinvest them. We are spending the money and then some i would imagine come the end of the window.

To say that things have not changed Dave is disingenuous. Do i need to remind you where the Arteta money went etc...

Anyone remember the clock that someone created a few years back that counted the days since we actually paid cash for an actual player?

Nothing's changed though.

Yes, just like United put a United spin on it...

One thing Everton do well is hold out for big fees.

There's no chance we accepted £25m less than our valuation without some serious caveats.
So looks like it's going onwards and upwards. Would have liked him to stay (and contribute), couldn't care less where he goes now. £75 mill is neither a cheep or low fee. My view a while ago was that would be the ball park. But really it's an obscene amount of money which may only be the minimum. Strange world.
