The deal will be worth an initial £75m plus a further £15m of easily attainable add-ons linked to achievements and appearances.

Rooney, who is notionally valued at around £10m, would also return to Merseyside after a glittering 13-year career at United, swelling the whole value of the deal on the table to nine figures. Chelsea had tabled their own offer for Lukaku’s services, seeking to re-sign a player they had sold for £28m in 2014.

Lukaku was the hottest young striker in the world when we signed him.

The fact we had such a good player for so long at a great time of his career baffles me.

He's leaving for a world record fee after becoming our best PL striker of all time and people are chatting absolute wham about his first touch.

Who exactly are we supposed to replace him with? Who's available with that kind of scoring record that we can afford and will join us?

i think every evertonian is under no illusions that we can't get a direct replacement who is as good as him. But we also acknowledge that everything we did, was did with the focus that he would be the one putting the ball in the back of the net. It was very risky and yeah we got a bit lucky that he never actually got injured, but i feel we will definitely be stronger as a team on a whole without him.

He played a hand in 30 goals last season, we have already brought in two goalscorers in klaassen and sandro, we seem to be about to tie up rooney, we could also have siggurdsson and giroud in soon. That's vastly surpassing what rom and all the players' these guys will be replacing did last season. We're looking at mirallas, barkley, lukaku, calvert-lewin, valencia and kone. As a whole, those players barely contributed anything over the season, the players we have and will bring in will be a significant upgrade as a whole.

Or alternatively, it is widely being reported as £75m plus £15m in add-ons, plus another £5m after the Chelsea bid became known.

I bet it ends up as "undisclosed".

tbf, i doubt chelsea were willing to pay a whole package of £90m and then said "no, you're ok", to an extra £5m. I don't like them as a club, but if the reason they're not getting him is because they wouldn't bend down and let that snake of an agent kick them up the 'arris, then i applaud them for that tbh.

What's with the £75m fee. I was sure we wanted £100m, forget about the £10m for Rooney no way did/do we need to pay that in the first place United wanted him of the books to free wage space.

Bit of a climb down on our behalf but still way more than he is worth.
All in all it's about £95m, ignoring Rooney entirely.

That'll do for me, and I'm a huge fan of Rom.

Do you think so? I'm sure it will all need to be announced when the deal is concluded. World record transfer fee cant argue with that.

Cant see United wanting Pogba to lose his World Record fee tag, hes much more marketable than Lukaku.

Who knows, are United still listed? If so they would have to declare the fee, guess we find out then.

Glad he's going to United rather than Chelsea.

Thanks for the goals big man. Good luck getting past Keane and Pickford.
Really dont want to mention this but, Lukaku bullied Keane for his goal at Goodison vs Burnley (re-watch it) and scored a hattrick against Pickford.

Nothing against our new signings as they were playing for a worse team, but Rom is going to smash it at United if they play to his strengths

Antonio Conte has made his peace with Chelsea after their failure to sign Romelu Lukaku, with the head coach blaming the player and his agent, Mino Raiola, for the Everton striker’s impending transfer to Manchester United, which could be announced as early as today.

It is understood that Chelsea matched United’s initial £75million up-front offer for Lukaku, but were unwilling to meet the agent fee being demanded by Raiola, which they believe has been pivotal in the Belgium striker’s apparent desire to move to Old Trafford.

Chelsea fear that Lukaku is being guided towards United by Raiola — who took Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the club 12 months ago — because of the agent’s financial interests rather than the player’s sporting objectives. Chelsea have also suffered as a result of United’s willingness to offer Wayne Rooney — notionally valued at £10 million — to Everton as part of the deal, which when Lukaku’s easily attainable performance and appearance targets are achieved will take the value of the overall package to a world-record £100 million.

While Chelsea’s £75 million offer for Lukaku was made prior to United and Everton coming to an agreement this week, it has been enough to placate Conte, who is frustrated at missing out on his primary summer transfer target. The Italian is understood to feel betrayed by Lukaku as the pair have spoken on several occasions this summer and the Italian had formed the impression that he had his heart set on returning to Stamford Bridge. Instead, the 24-year-old now appears destined to join United.

While Chelsea retain a faint hope of persuading Lukaku to change his mind, Conte will turn his attention to securing other players when he returns to work tomorrow, with Spanish duo Álvaro Morata and Fernando Llorente his main targets, but he also has other issues to resolve, not least his own future. Conte and his assistants have not signed the new four-year deals they were offered at the end of last season

From The Times.

Tapping up that, isn't it?

Yes they are, and yes we will. It may not be a WORLD RECORD FEE but it's little more than a technicality.

Oh yeah.

Erm, get Gana or Davies to go through him early then.

Just read Bellotti is being valued at 90m. Outrageous prices for players this year.

It's got me thinking though if Chelsea and united get either lukaku morata or bellottii, Arsenal with Lacazette, city with Jesus and aguero, spurs with Kane.. we seriously need to go out and get a top striker to compete
