He can always fall back on Martinez signed the player that funded our most successful period. Never underestimate Dave. He always has an out.The best thing about Lukaku leaving is we don't have to listen to dave saying Koeman achieve this achieve that because of Lukaku solely and so on.
No disrespect to the man because he is quite an intelligent poster.
But imagine getting 4th on 73 points this season? Or even 3rd if the top 4 have a inconsistent season? Smash moyes and Martinez records and achievements in one go?

Surely by feeder club measurements, we really are a feeder club to Sunderland not Man U."Feeder Club"
3 players to Utd in 13 years says we're not playing that role very well.
Some of the absolute nonsense being spouted on here is nothing short of nauseating and it's embarrassing how quickly opinions can polarise.
Regardless of his failings, mainly his touch and his somewhat crass attitude, he's been a very good striker for us and will be difficult to replace.
In fact, he's probably the best we've had in a generation and during the four years at the club I think he's offered much more than his negatives.
And while £75m plus is clearly a very good return, in an ideal world it would have been more beneficial for him to stay if we are to challenge.
So have we really 'mugged' Manure? Are we really pleased that he's leaving us for another rival as some seem to suggest? Personally, I think not.
In the end, Manure will inherit a fantastic striker who'll prosper due to his talent whereas financially we'll benefit and hopefully reinvest it wisely.
Also, personally I think it's a shame that he is not leaving for another league because I certainly will not relish him playing against us next season.
All this Judas talk and thinly veiled claims about his ability aren't required; wish him luck, use the now bursting wallet and move on. Simple!
We could mate.
He'd find a reason to complain about it somehow, and the usual folk would bite

It`s a funny thing the Premiership, as only the top 4 offer what players want today.
The other 15 clubs are there to just make up the numbers really. Must be depressing going watching the likes of Burnley, Stoke, Liverpool knowing its as good as it is going to get, I wonder how long this model can survive before the inevitable break away euro league happens
Lukaku is off, interesting to see how we spend the money
So we're simply looking to maintain the status quo? Nothing personal to you Pete as you're not the only person, but it's a glib answer I'm afraid.Lukaku has scored lots of goals, but if you look back throughout our seasons we have not scored any more goals in total with Lukaku than we did before we got him, and I'm pretty sure we will just score as many in the future. He is a great goal scorer but now others in the team will score instead.........

Eddy, they have been talking about the inevitability of a European Super League since I was a boy back in the 60s
The tediousness of the CL group stages render that prospect less likely than ever IMO
