Everton Agree Fee With Man Utd For Lukaku

Some of the absolute nonsense being spouted on here is nothing short of nauseating and it's embarrassing how quickly opinions can polarise.

Regardless of his failings, mainly his touch and his somewhat crass attitude, he's been a very good striker for us and will be difficult to replace.

In fact, he's probably the best we've had in a generation and during the four years at the club I think he's offered much more than his negatives.

And while £75m plus is clearly a very good return, in an ideal world it would have been more beneficial for him to stay if we are to challenge.

So have we really 'mugged' Manure? Are we really pleased that he's leaving us for another rival as some seem to suggest? Personally, I think not.

In the end, Manure will inherit a fantastic striker who'll prosper due to his talent whereas financially we'll benefit and hopefully reinvest it wisely.

Also, personally I think it's a shame that he is not leaving for another league because I certainly will not relish him playing against us next season.

All this Judas talk and thinly veiled claims about his ability aren't required; wish him luck, use the now bursting wallet and move on. Simple!

Yep. I'm gutted.

Seen some absolute shabite from Everton fans on here and Twitter last few days. Ah well.

90m if add ons are achieved. Rooney wasn't mentioned in our statement. It's a totally separate deal.
90 million

Ha ha ha

Every time Lukaku scored a goal for Everton, it increased his value by a million. Your namesake is paying out of his arse for a player he didn't rate and has sold him before.

While he was a great striker, I think we are a far better team for the sale. The amount of money is just too much to keep him for. That amount allows us to not only get a striker who is good, but not quite as good, but then upgrade OTHER positions. We are a team with too many needs to compete with the top 4 to hold onto one position.

United, are not. Teams in their position can splash a lot on one position. We need to sure up many of them before we can start to just considering one player here, or one player there. To me the only downside to this deal for us is that he went to united instead of Chelsea. Chelsea were already odds on to repeat, so it wouldnt have hurt our top 4 chances. If United beat us out for top 4 next season, its going to be a major bummer.

He wasn't/isn't Koemans signing Koeman inherited a very good striker, but that's all he is at the moment very good, not a great striker that's another level he's not at. I'm the years he has been here, he has been poor against the top teams, it's disgraceful we haven't beaten any of Arsenal,Chelsea or Liverpool away in the league since Walter smiths days here and only beaten United away when Moyes was there. I strongly believe keeping Lukaku wouldn't get us any higher than where we finished last season, to much revolved around him, I have the feeling next season it will be a total team effort more Koemans way.

You get a chance of a generation to cash in on a player like Lukaku. You know that it has to be timed to perfection for a sale at just the right time with a buyer in place and a deal cut that makes all parties very happy. I dont see that here. I see a club like United who have just hit the jackpot for a reasonable fee by their standards these days and they'll only need to pay more if they are highly successful.

We get a lot less upfront than most people were expecting and we'll see that clearly in the next month or so when this market goes insane and figures approaching the Lukaku one will be agreed for players with less talent.

I consider this near enough a mugging, tbh.
Even you Dave , could not keep a straight face typing nonsense like that.

I'm not disputing we have £90M from this, but it's a £75M upfront payment + a promissory note based on some unspecified trigger point.

We put up with that from United over Rooney. At least that United team back then had the success to make the promissory note come good.

Everton have been done up like a kipper again by an OT mugging party. It's Kenwright crying in Ferguson's office all over again.

We pushed for attainable and clear trigger points. It's why the deal has been negotiated for weeks....

If reports are true, its a staggering deal, world record in fact.

£75 mill in transfer fee.
£15 mill to pay of the rest of Rooneys contract (halving his wage here).
£10 mill fee waved.

Total £100 mill in value to Everton.

Laughing at the threads on here saying that £28 mill was to much for him.

It's £15m in add ons I believe, not to do with rooney

The top 4 is between 6 clubs with us chasing the pack.
We had a very poor spell in Nov and December of last season where we had a string of poor results, if not for those we would have been chasing a top four spot in the first two or three months of 2017.
The injury to Coleman and Lukaku losing complete interest meant the end of season tailed away badly.

I don't believe we are as far away from pushing for a top four spot as you suggest.
