it's probably all gamesmanship and could be coming from both clubs tbf. United lie about agreeing a fee to get madrid and morata to hurry up proceedings their end, whilst we're happy for the story to run to get chelsea to actually act, because it's not in our best interests to let this drag. We've shown money is no object, but also we're acting quick to get all our dealings done as early as possible to have a nice settled squad before the start of the season.

Possibly also a case that maybe it's £75m+£15m more (as an example) to be paid next summer, which would help us more with what we can afford next summer as well, in the sense we wouldn't have to make any more big sales. Not sure how FFPP works entirely, but we've already spent so much without needing his sale, getting a full whack of £85m or so, maybe a bit wasted on us for this summer, so we would want it structured to aid us next summer?

Sky Sports News now seem to think the fee is agreed. Thats set at £75m.
Its the structure of how that will be paid that is the stumbling block.
Both sides are right - United say fee is agreed and that is correct (if SSN are to be believed). Everton say the structure is not agreed so no deal is done - and that too can be true.

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere in the 90 pages of the thread....

anyway, seems after today we are going to sell this summer sadly, so you just hope we can spark a bidding war between the three heavyweights chelsea, united ... and west ham. But why do bidding wars never happen anymore? I can't remember the last time two teams went hammer and tongs for a single players, continually having progressive bids accepted. That's how i sell on FM with more than one interested, you accept £12m from one club, another jumps in with £15m, you accept that, reject the £12m and offer back to that team for £18m and so on. Never happens in real life.

Whats this stereotype? Lukaku wants to leave you guys and always flirts with clubs regularly. So you have a player who wants to leave and you get a near world record deal & a player who wants to return to his boyhood club and is still only 31!
