On target to get 80 points if we match the first half of the season by your statement to get 'a chance' of top 4... jesus mate, 80 points for a chance to get 4th, what planet are you on atm ;o

We're not just targeting 4th though mate.

80 points just the beginning

If we're in the mix towards the end of the season, everyone will feel the pressure a bit more not being used to it, lack of quality squad options to come in for fatigued/injured players, decisions will start to go against us, 'strange' bits of luck for the other top sides. It quite often happens that someone thinks they're going to do it and then they run out of steam. Obviously I'm exaggerating a bit, but I do think we need a decent buffer.

Fair do's then Brownie, see where ya comign from now, especially as the run in sees us facing a lot of the sky favoured teams like

Conversely the more pressure we put on the teams around us the more they will begin to crack.

Horses for courses

Chelsea's strikers can't hit a barn door between them, and they have apparently conceeded as many goals as they did in the whole of Mourinho's first season in charge. That is remarkable. Yet, they now sit just 2 points off the top of the league.. that is even more remarkable.

Citeh's away form has been patchy up until now but they seem to be getting it together now, and their home form is amazing. They have so many options. Imagine losing a striker of Aguero's quality, and then just being able to step it up a gear and put 4 more goals past the league leaders.

No chance we can match these two for the next 22 games, I'm afraid.

Martinez himself has come out and pretty much disagreed completely with this idea of 'flying under the radar', he says it's a good thing that the players have expectation and pressure on them because it makes them realise what they're capable of and how well thought of they are as a group.

What do you think?

I refer back to Roberto 'God' Martinez, 1.94 points average across the year will guarantee you a top 4 spot. 37 points after 19 games, basically.

If anything i think we'll get stronger as the season goes on, even if injuries hit us, because the strength in our team lies just as much in the tactics employed my Martinez as the personnel themselves.

I like your method of madness Brennan and for that reason I'm in. Just joking on the madness part, and I agree I think we will get stronger and better. I trust our Boberto to rotate as and when he sees fit but always put out an 11 that are capable of winning. Tactics, mentality, positivity whatever we want to call it the boys in Blue are believing in it because he is drilling it into them day after day. Its just a round ball ffs and 11 men against 11 men so it ain't science is it when it comes to Football. We r playing togger the right way and that wins games. ****ing loving it me Brennan, absolutely ****ing loving it atm

Under the radar is a remnant of the previous regime, Martinez knows we're boss and wants everybody who supports us to know it too.

WE ARE BOSS.

So far Arsenal have lost 3, Chelsea have lost 3 and City have lost 4.

Last season the Champions lost 5.
The year before that it was 5.
And the year before that it was 4.

Koscielny picked up a bad knee injury today and he could be out for the remainder of the Xmas period. Vermaelen may well be rusty and teams could take advantage.

Chelsea's defence, particularly Cech is shaky. Toothless West Ham are the only team to fail to score against them since the end of September.

City have only managed 2 wins away from the Etihad all season. The drew with Southampton and Stoke and were beaten by Cardiff, Villa, Chelsea and Sunderland. Demichelis is a weak link and Pelligini seems to prefer to play Garcia out of position rather than Nastasic or Lescott.

If we can turn draws into wins we could stay in contention. We could do with having one or two more match-winners to bring off the bench to help us achieve that.

Martin Keown just now on FinalScore.

I can't ever remember a pundit say that about us ever.

Far out.
Was it 96 we eat Newcastle 2-0 at GP in the opening game of the season? Whatever year it was Lineker and Lawro said on MOTD we'd could win it if we kept Duncan fit.
