Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

As much of a bell end Moyes has been lately, this is a ridiculous statement. How is Moyes' level the Championship? He took a team from being 15th-17th regulars each season to being a top 7/8 club every season. He took us to a cup final, and achieved us a 4th placed finish, which no other outsider of the "Big 4" has done without massive amounts of money.

To suggest Moyes isn't a good manager is bitter. He's an absolute embarrasment of a man though and I hope he fails at United.

You know, that fact doesn't stand much scutiny when you consider that only seven teams, including Everton, have been ever presents in the EPL since the turn of the century.

Ergo EFC has every entitlement to regularly finish in front of clubs which have been yo-yoing in and out the big league and having to play catch up.

(Citeh being an obvious exception due to winning the football lottery putting them ahead of us)

I agree though that Moye's level is somewhere above the Championship and round about where he left us....an upper mid-table team.

If it wasn't for the patronage of his Uncle Bill and the forebearance of us, the fans (as Big Nev pointes out) Moyes would have been out the door at Everton long since and riding the same managerial merry go round at Big Sam, Mark Hughes, Pardew and all the rest of them.

As for getting to "a Cup Final"......off the top of my head, Millwall, Saints, Pompey, Stoke, Wigan and Cardiff have been in "a Cup FinaL" during the Moyes era at Everton so I am sorry, one losing "Cup final" ain't exactly setting the Mersey on fire IMO.

I think he will start next season there.....but I don't think he will finish next season at OT.

that was my exact opinion when we first heard he was appointed, but now, with the way he's acting, I'm calling a swifter end to his career at a "top club"

the man utd fans aren't exactly impressed with his antics so far, and if results don't drive him out, the fans or the board will

again, just my opinion

All this speculation of phone calls from Moyes telling players to hand in transfer requests is just that, speculation.
Moyes is a canny devil, he's known since christmas that he would be the next united manager, any dirty work will have been long planned. Let's face it he will know the agents concerned, the contracts the players are on, his transfer kitty at united, and more worrying just how skint Everton are.
I sincerely hope that other clubs will show an interest in Fellaini and subsequently enter a bidding war for his signature, thus putting the cat amongst the pigeons, for all Moyesies devious planning.

I hope nobody bids and we keep him.

This idea that Moyes was holding us back or wasnt massively over achieving given the dearth of funds he was provided with, is bitter at best, and ludicrous at worst.

Macca,

I acknowledge that he performed well overall but, as I have posted ages ago, in terms of PMDS rating I would give him a 3 at most (1-5 possible).

I am a senior manager who has to operate in a situation where others above me decide my budget. I have to make sure that I not only use that budget well, but that the personnel that I am given (unlike Moyes I have NO say in who is appointed to me) perform to a 3/4/or at absolute best 5.

This I do, and in fact have been promoted recently as a result of my management of the resources that I was given.

I am on a fraction of what Moyes was paid, but am dealing with 7 figure budgets.

I also have to deal with under-performance by my staff - my manager is not interested in excuses about....

"this is what I inherited"......"I can't get the people I want..."

I have little sympathy from my own experience for someone like Moyes not delivering some sort of success over an 11 year term.

I would not be given anything like 4 years never mind eleven in which to deliver success.

On that note... Maybe Fellaini and Baines did once say they would follow him as at the time he was their manager.... But now he is gone, and smooth talking Martinez comes in, they are all like Koff Moyes.... Now Moyes is all hurt by their betrayal and acting out....

I'm thrilled to hear about your promotion.

I'm not even defending Moyes, i'm defending Martinez from the high expectations some fans have. A lot think it is impossible for Everton to be relegated and many think a top ten position is pretty much guaranteed for our club. With the current board, it really isnt.

Could it be that instead of that Moyes pushed us forward, it was more Smith held us back.... Ergo Moyes looked better then he actually was....

Not really, because during Moyes's tenure, Everton are pretty much the ONLY side to have consistently, over an extended period out performed (in terms of league placing) where their spending on wages and transfer fees implied they should finish.

Worst case scenario for me would be if both Fellaini and Baines are sold it must be for 42m ish...Felli 25m Baines 17m.

i would also sell Heits for 3m and buy the following.

Siqueira 12m
Alderweireld 5m
Marrone 7m
McCarthy 10m
Moses 8m

Total 42m

I think we'd be lucky to get £23-24m for Felli, and £16m for Baines!. Tbh I don't want to sell Baines but if he did want to move to be able to play CL footy and possibly win honours, then that's fair enough, he deserves it IMO!.

As for Felli, i'll be happy if he stays but I wouldn't be all that depressed if he went but at this stage of the window, I wont be happy if he goes either!. Replacements for him have and are running out!.

For me, IF Bainesy did leave, that Siqueira would be a good shout but hasn't he got a £7m release clause?. But why not give Oviedo his chance and use the money on other areas of the side?!.

And Marrone wont go for less than £8-9m. Juve want 10m Euros atleast by all accounts!.

But even IF we did sell Fellaini, we'd need a replacement AND another CM IMO!. We would need a combative, defensive midfielder (Diame, Mulumbu, Marrone, Ginter) to come in for Fellaini, and then I think we need a CM with great passing ability who can make us tick and create from deep who will either challenge Gibbo or replace him (Banega, Jorghino, Sigurdsson, Cabella)?!.

When Moyes was Everton manager he always used to say that it was disrespectful to talk about players at other clubs. His values seem to have suddenly gone out of the window. He also said that he's had offers for his players that were 'a bit small'. Is he talking about Rooney? How would he feel if Mourinho said that United should accept their offer because it's what the player wants?
