So we had a clause in his contract of 23 million, and now we are selling him for 20 million?

Hmm that makes sense. Daniel Levy will be calling Kenwright for tips I think after this one.

Just because you have a release clause of a certain figure does not mean that's the amount anybody wants to pay for him.

We could put a £50m release clause in Naismith's contract ffs.

People need to stop thinking that the release clause = a player's value. It doesn't work like that.

I'm upset about the price but I'm happy we are holding onto Baines. I guess it's time to welcome in the 3 M's.

Marrone
McCarthy
Moses

Is that better than Fellaini? Could be

Perhaps Martinez feels that he could find a player for cheaper who would do as good as or a better role than Fellaini in the formation he wants us to play.

That player seems to be McCarthy.

If we get basically £10m + McCarthy for Fellaini I'll be fairly happy.

So would I, if the other 10m went back on say Victor Moses, instead of disappearing to pay Robert Earle a big chunk of interest for his latest loan.

Which we don't desperately need as a matter of urgency. We got through last season ok, and our squad is stronger now than it was then.

On a side note, if we've sold Fellaini for £20m and go and spend £15m of that on James McCarthy, I'm gonna go and jump off something high :P

How is our squad stronger? We lost 2 CMs in the Summer.

Maybe we should flog Baines and Mirallas too and just go buy the rest of the Wigan side while we're at it.

It makes perfect sense to me.

He had a £23m release clause. Clubs didn't want to pay it.

Clubs wait until release clause expires then bid less than release clause was.

This FFS this. Tired of reading about how Fellaini is worth more than 23m because the clause was set at 23M and how he must be worth more than 23M because no one bought him at 23M. MAKE IT STOP.

Yeah I'd have that. I like Moses, and obviously Martinez knows him well.

Yeah why not just 4 da lulz.
