Agreed and it will have taken only 2 months to undermine our new manager - a record for Kenwright!

I can EASILY see a resignation on the cards sometime not far down the road. Right from the off Martinez has been ambushed by Kenwright with that 'he said he'll get us into the CL' comment.

I'd love if RM turned on this **** and spilled it to the media on leaving.

"I have told the chairman I don't want to know anything that's going on, I only want to know the final news if there is anything."I have had enough of 'he said this, he said that'. This is a really sensitive situation because you're talking of a chairman and previous manager [Moyes] who had a relationship over 11 years. A lot of things have been said in public and I don't want to be part of that. I'm out of it. But I have never had any instruction that anything has changed."

Long 4 days ahead

This is all beginning to stink of a carve up between Moyes and Kenwright. Last minute sale suits Kenwright down to the ground. And Moyes' gets his summer targets and pulls the rug from underneath his successor who cant act in the transfer window.
So Kenwright and Moyes are deliberately trying to damage Everton? Preposterous.

How does intentionally damaging Everton help Kenwright in his pursuit of extracting the maximum profit from Everton as you always bang on about?

There's **** all new in that piece , it's merely a re-hash of this mornings comments with Hunter adding that we've turned away £36m this afternoon. Don't let that stop the hysteria though

Our boss is too professional to let a matter like this or any other force him into resignation.

Hahaha brilliant, this beats your Finch Farm Cone layers 'nailed on' prediction

Utter bollocks

Reading the guardian article se this is out of bobbys hands an ken****e is making the decision on what bid to accept. Surely this should be the managers decision.

Didnt kenwright say in bobbys press conference he would back him with money an let him control incomings/outgoings........this is starting to smell like another kenwright stitch up job.

Utd obviously confident of getting their man then funny that isnt it considering were being told all bids rejected

Thank you very much bobby robson

Ridiculous really, what a way to treat Martinez. He wants Fellaini and Baines to stay and wants to prepare for Cardiff away and get his first PL win as EFC boss, but nah, his **** of a Chairman is talking to his best pal in football about selling our two best players despite them coming nowhere near our valuation. Just tell them to **** off Bill you spineless old fart.

I've got no problem with Kenwright negotiating with them *IF* the negotiations are as The Mirror say, with BK saying we want £50m for the pair. For that money, as much as it would hurt to sell Baines particularly, we'd be insane not to accept.

I would have completely dismissed that idea but I have to say I was shocked when I read this particular quote from Martinez in that Guardian article: "I have had enough of 'he said this, he said that'. This is a really sensitive situation because you're talking of a chairman and previous manager [Moyes] who had a relationship over 11 years. A lot of things have been said in public and I don't want to be part of that. I'm out of it. But I have never had any instruction that anything has changed."

We don't always see eye to eye, but I think it would be a very principled thing to do for Martinez to resign if they are sold at the last minute.
While I don't think Moyes and Kenwright have a conspiracy, I do feel Moyes has a particularly unhealthy influence over Kenwright. I also think he would use that influence. I think Kenwright underneath it all the front, is quite a weak man. He takes the safe option. At times he accommodates others as opposed to himself/his club. It many ways an admirable trait, but not for a chairman. I think Moyes feels if he exerts enough pressure Kenwright will buckle.

Wont go that way though, unfortunately.
If you have named a price why talk to them?! Talk when they meet it, simple.

Can't see it being £40m if we've leaked that we've rejected £38m. We wouldn't do that, only to accept £2m more. Suspect £45m more likely, IF they go.

I thought the report said £36m. They've already come up £8m. I don't think they'll want to lose the deal for the sake of a few more million but, if they think they're being taken for a ride they might just pull the plug.

If they did go close to the deadline we can cover Baines with Oviedo but we'd struggle to replace Fellaini. Maybe they'll throw in a loan (Anderson, Nani or Hernandez) to sweeten the deal and because we won't have time to arrange our own replacements.

We're in the driving seat because both players are well in contract and seem fairly happy to stay at the club. £40m would be of enormous benefit to the club and really set us up for seasons to come. It's hard to see how we could turn that sort of money down.
