Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

To me that says Martinez wants to be left out of the conversations but wants to be kept in the loop. Not "My chairman is deliberately undermining me with the former Everton manager" like some alarmists here make out.

It's the language and tone of it that worry me - "I'm out of it. But I have never had any instruction..." Just sounds like he is not very happy about what is going on.

We don't always see eye to eye, but I think it would be a very principled thing to do for Martinez to resign if they are sold at the last minute.
While I don't think Moyes and Kenwright have a conspiracy, I do feel Moyes has a particularly unhealthy influence over Kenwright. I also think he would use that influence. I think Kenwright underneath it all the front, is quite a weak man. He takes the safe option. At times he accommodates others as opposed to himself/his club. It many ways an admirable trait, but not for a chairman. I think Moyes feels if he exerts enough pressure Kenwright will buckle.

I'm sure that Bill can be a nasty tw@t when he wants to be and I don't think he's the pushover that you think. Considering that we sold Arteta for £10m and Rodwell for £12m it surprises me that we've held out past the £36m mark so far. Kenwright knows that Moyes needs signings and that he's loathe to take risks, especially at a new club. BK will quite likely be using all sorts of emotional blackmail about how Davey left us and 'you'll never take our Bainsey' to get the deal that he wants.

The tv money might have cleared our debts and now the chairman wants to cut our cloth to suit so that we don't get into the same mess again. It makes absolute business sense to ring as much as we can out of United for a soon-to-be 29 year old full back and a midfielder approaching his prime who may or may not be able to fit into Martinez's passing style, especially if he's standing in Barkley's way once Gibson comes back.

Yeah, you'd be gutted about that too wouldn't you? Ha Ha.

Anyway, I hate to spoil your fun but it won't happen.

I'd've agreed with you, IF Moyes had gone about this the right way. But the way he and Utd have handled this pursuit, I can't see any outcome other than it having irrevocably destroyed Kenwright's relationship with Moyes. So many stories have come out saying how hurt and angry Kenwright is, and that he feels betrayed by Moyes. Not saying we won't sell, but actually don't think Kenwright will make it easy for Utd.

I was hoping that would happen. But Moyes's "I still speak to Kenwright" doesn't fill me with confidence. And Martinez's quotes ring of a man who has been hung out to dry by his chairman.
In all seriousness, could you honestly see, Daniel Levy allowing Moyes to be anywhere near those two after the way he's behaved if he were chairman? In Moyes had pissed him off, a simple statement to the media from kenwright would have sufficed.
I think underneath it all, Kenwright is a bit thick. I could see Moyes/United wrapping him around their finger.

Hey mate, if we can get rid of Martinez and Kenwright in one foul swoop, then what can I say ;) .
No Joking aside, I am happy for Martinez to stay. Barring a relegation struggle, he should be given this season to build. I am disappointed with the last couple of games, but there's no point in panicking. He has handled the transfer situation very well, and in my view, Kenwright has offered him no support.
I also happen to think similar probably happened while Moyes was here.

Stay on topic pal this is an everton forum. If you want info on hair transplants move over thebaldtruth.com
Interesting sub-plot lids.

I think Martinez' rather miffed at being undermined. Ffs BK, you're gonna reap what you sow eventually, you seem to be treating him like Whelan did at Wigan.

Whatever. Tomorrow you'll be undermining the feller again. You're just not a consistent poster.

How have I undermined him? There is a difference between saying every result is brilliant and undermining him. I have stated our aim should be to keep ourselves in the top 6. We have set standards in recent years, and we should look to keep to them. I hope Martinez can do that, and hopefully he will. Lighten up a touch hey?

with a driver without a licence. I'm not in the business of scaremongering but I've got a horrible feeling we'll accept the deal on deadline day and get nobody coming in. I'm having flashbacks to that Arteta transfer window already.

Ha can see where your coming from-seriously though I really cant see that happening this time if we sell arguably our two best players and dont replace them/invest the income then serious questions will be asked about the people in charge. For me if it happens and they go there will be replacements straight in probably all getting sorted if not already. hopefully

Hypothetically, because by naming a price of £50m, while we might not get that, it forces them closer to that figure with any further bid. And the closer Utd get to the deadline, the more desperate they get to make a big money "statement" signing.

We actually pretty much hold all the cards here, so long as we play them right.

Where have you seen £50m mentioned? I think the club are handling it well. We sent out a statement that £28m was far too low and we've apparently let it be known that £36m isn't worth considering either. If it's true it must be us that's making it public, which is exactly the right thing to do because it puts attention and pressure on Moyes and United.

They know they're being played and I can't see them making another huge jump. It will be more incremental steps now, in my opinion, such as add-ons or possibly even player swap deals.

It's kind of surprising though that Ferguson and Moyes must have dossiers and dossiers on players and they must and discussed possible transfer targets yet they seem to be totally devoid of ideas. I don't think that Baines and Fellaini are the answer for them myself.

Precisely why we shouldn't name a price.

I agree.

However, think back to the beginning of summer; Thiago was their Plan A, but he turned them down. Fabregas was Plan B. Now they're desperate and will bid even higher if we can hold out.
