This thread makes me sad.
There was a time, admittedly some time ago, when we were truly boss and won things on a regular basis. The Reds were still our rivals back then and it was always great to see them lose / fail / whatever, but if they won something, we knew we'd win something else soon, which lessened the pain somewhat.
Now, I'm a wool, but I lived in city back in the 80's and there wasn't the same hatred ( for want of a better word ) of that lot as there is now. To be honest, there were bigger things on people's minds ( if anyone's old enough to remember the time of the riots you'll know what I mean ).
I'd much prefer Citeh or Chelski win the league but heh, if the other lot win it then I'll take some positives from it. They might have more cash than us but their finances are tiny compared to Citeh or Chelski. They have a manager ( annoying though the blert is ) who has a similar philosophy to Martinez. In terms of changing the way the team plays we're effectively one season behind them and we're lacking in the cash department, but it shows what can be done. The only real difference between the two teams is Suarez who they took a gamble on for ~20 million. All we need to move to the next level is a great manager ( tick ), a great squad ( tick ) and a bit of luck in buying someone who turns out to be worth much more than we thought at the time of signing, oh, and a bit of luck too.
