Astounds me that people dont want to see us progress whatever the circumstances.

Money is needed and if we dont get new owners self sufficiency is a necessity- the only way we can earn more is from exposure to competitions like the champions league.

Just wow

It's not enough to crash us into the party. That's the point. And if it doesn't do that I'd sooner deny them a title.

Not the least bit controversial at all, no matter how you'd like to present it.

So exposure on a massive scene and more money just isn't good enough. Dave, I think you're more concerned with RS than us, and its quite pathetic really.

The RS concern is theres, if they win the league it is totally out of your, and our, control. If it happens, it happens so be more concerned about we are aiming to achieve rather than what they do or don't.

You're happy to refer to there cringe worthy antics, but your posts are just as bad

This is my opinion. I am an Evertonian not a Merseysider, I along with about another 4000 Evertonians had a boss day out in the smoke yesterday with hopefully many many more to come and also further afield under the maestro Martinez.

Now the fact is I DO want us to be in the Champions League, however we are not equipped and more than likely would struggle but the exposure and coin is inevitably too much to turn down. Now onto the RS I don't want them to win the half time raffle never mind the effin league ffs we would never hear the end of it, Stevie G with his medal around his neck 24/7, Pundits from here to mars going on about the history and shanks this and banners everywhere, lads ffs it doesn't worth thinking about pass us the bleach.

I have even considered getting a dog so I can walk it to be away from TVs, Radios and the internet media. Worse case scenario we beat City and they clinch the title on the strength of it. Best case scenario we finish 4th and they finish 2nd or 3rd. Please football gods don't let them win the title. I don't care if i called a bitter, just don't want our main enemy winning anything.

To be honest I think we need to have a DMZ type forum where we can put these half Everton half Liverpool threads where Liverpool dominate like they did in the early 80s and we get to scramble for crumbs from the top table and pretend we're happy getting one tenth of what they get whatever deal is laid out. When I come to the Everton only forum I want to talk about Everton not pretend that I want them to do well for the good of the city or whatever.

For the record I'd take 4th regardless of what they do, it's inevitable they will win the league again and there's no point bothering yourself about what they do in the league past the two league derbies so focus on Everton doing well, at the end of the day that's what it's about being an Everton supporter and they'd brag about finishing 14th in the conference so it's a forlorn hope hoping they'll shut up and be humble for the first time in 40 years.

I've addressed this but you ignore it. We cant achieve our aims. That's the rub. It's no use saying 'that's their business, we'll just become a success ourselves'. And in that setting it's surprising a lot more than 47 people so far haven't chosen the first option.

Call it bitter if you want. I just call it local rivalry. I'd prefer they were out of existence never mind shrugging my shoulders at them picking up a title. I think it's strange not to feel that way.

I'd prefer they were out of existence, or that they weren't in contention for the league, but they do exist and they are in contention so what can you do?? Well, A) you can accept and concentrate on evertons achievement, or B) you can deny your own clubs progress to stop your rival from winning the league.
The majority choose A, everton come first.

And I haven't ignored it the issue you think you've addressed. It basically comes down to this; the CL provides a lot, including money. You bang on and on aboyt our commercial revenue but fail to see that qualifying for this strengthens our position; which may attract (dare I say) investment. A long shot, yes, but a club competing at the highest levels will raise our profile quite considerably.

But we'll deny all these ifs and buts, just so you can turn to a kopite and say 'rodgers is a fraud and you're not good enough to win the league'. That may bring you some joy, but for the majority of us seeing Real Mardid coming up from the tunnel on a Wednesday night in a rocking Goodison Park will bring us joy

I dont think so, Bungle.

Many can work out that even in the event we do pip Arsenal to 4th it isn't a silver bullet to slay our problems. Liverpool winning the title however could open the floodgates to a new era of utter gloom as we stand in the shadows of their future successes. That was on my mind when they won the CL in 2005. It didn't pan out that way because they wasted a kings ransom on rubbish players. But if they get a second bite at the cherry...

I'd stop them at all costs. No matter what the short term disadvantage to us.

Many people feel like that, just not to the detriment of their own team.

Yeah I've thought about it some more and I've now changed my mind.

How do I change my vote damn it!?

To hell with Liverpool winning it....

LET'S GET FOURTH.

How is having two teams in the CL not good for the City?

I don't think that's the issue.

In fact, it would be quite fun from a banter point of view and the city would indeed be buzzing twice in CL weeks.

Provided we go in as equals....not with them lording over us as "Champions".

I've done all that; weighed it all up. The gain is not so great that it would cover the cost.

I dont know why everyone doesn't think like that, but I'm not going to hound them for taking the opposite point of view to me over it.

48 now, btw.

We're turning this around.

On talkSPORT just now.

The Kopites are bricking it at the thoughts of us laying down against Citeh.

One has just called in to say every Blue he has talked to today has told him we would rather lose to Citeh and miss out on the CL if it stopped them winning the league.

Durham has asked for Evertonians to call in.

:D

I certainly don't hope that THEY win the league, but er, we are Everton. We are not there to stop Liverpool, we are there to win for the sake of our own club.
Pleased that somebody started this survey, going to copy the link to every red who says we're all bitters.

Only time i can remember a team doing that was actually Liverpool at Anfield to stop United winning the title, StevieG with a wonderful weighted through ball to Drogba to guarantee it, and their fans actually celebrating the loss like they'd won the league

Kinda Hypocritical of them
We won't lose like they did though, its not the manager or the teams way, see that's what having class and humility is all about. Gerrard deserves to actually never win the league for that Chelsea 'fix' game alone imo
