So are people actually saying they wouldn't want champions league football if it was to stop them lot win the league? come on lads we surly want the best for OUR club, everyone want's to be playing in the champions league, especially us we haven't qualified for the champions league for a long time, we need to concentrate on our club and should want the best for our club.

@davek always good to know that someone who constantly moans about the lack of money and investment in the club is happy for us not to qualify for the most lucrative competition in Europe because he can't stand the thought of the RS winning the leaague.

Brilliant, just brilliant

I'm sorry but I don't get this, If Liverpool win the league they deserve it, Sturrage and Suarez have scored 50 PL goals between them, they scored 4 or more goals 11 times this season.
I attually live in Liverpool and my wife and her family all support Liverpool. Have spoken to most of them they ALL want us to get 4th.
Given the choice personally I want us to get 4th.
I hope they win the league and we get 4th, brilliant for the City.
Why are we so bitter?

I agree, apart from the bit about hoping they win the league. I dislike Chelsea and City less than Liverpool so for me I'd prefer one of those 2, but if Liverpool win the league then so be it. It would seem that quite a few will take little joy from what has been an excellent first season under Martinez for us, purely because of what Liverpool have done. Bit daft.

Whoah, Hoss.

It is one thing holding one's nose and accepting them winning the Title if it means we make the CL.

It is a whole nother thing actually "hoping" they win it saying and that it would be "brilliant for the city".

It won't be "brilliant" in my little patch of the city, sir.

I am running for cover already and there is still six matches to go before the meejah dub them The People's Champions.

Exactly.

Some folk need to stop getting all het up about LFC, and take a look at us and how we're progressing, hopefully with the ultimate aim of getting back to the very top.

It's not enough to crash us into the party. That's the point. And if it doesn't do that I'd sooner deny them a title.

Not the least bit controversial at all, no matter how you'd like to present it.

I also want the best for our club -- which is way I'd willingly trade in the CL for them not to win the PL. Do we want to close the gap between us and them or not? If we do then we surely don't want them to win it. Think longer term than a couple of CL matches next season.

Can't believe this post. 'Brilliant for the city'. Just F.O. We got alot of this sentiment in 1977 when the RS were going into their first European Cup final - and look how 'brilliant' that has since proven to be.

Anything that's brilliant for them is a disaster for us. End of.

Surely that post is just one massive contradiction then? You want what's best for the club and want us to close the gap, but you'd give up a CL place and the chance of the money that brings, not to mention attracting better players if it meant them not winning the league?

It just sounds like the most backwards logic in the world to me.

Exactly.

Let's see them put a new dynasty in place and cheer them on doing it.

I dont think so, Bungle.

Many can work out that even in the event we do pip Arsenal to 4th it isn't a silver bullet to slay our problems. Liverpool winning the title however could open the floodgates to a new era of utter gloom as we stand in the shadows of their future successes. That was on my mind when they won the CL in 2005. It didn't pan out that way because they wasted a kings ransom on rubbish players. But if they get a second bite at the cherry...

I'd stop them at all costs. No matter what the short term disadvantage to us.

I view it that it is up to City and Chelsea to stop them. They have a direct say by playing them.

By the time the City game rolls up we will know if 4th is on or not. My take is that if we can get that CL spot then we must do everything possible to achieve it. Europa league is a different matter, I will take it but it will do little to kick us on.
