EYE AIDS!!!!

Christ on a bike. Let me think: Champ's League footy for Everton or some OTHER team wins the league. Let me think.....

Yeah, because this thread would exist if it were Aston Villa or someone.

Can understand people having a contrary view obviously but the overreaction from some on here is incredible - it's a perfectly rational view that sections of the fan base from any club in world football would have. Get a grip FFS.

NEA
Everton are the only team I care about...

A part of being an Evertonian is acknowledging we have local rivals surely? Again, I can understand not being from the city and having a lesser view on them, but being "NEA" about them is incomprehensible to me.

You've got to be arsed at the very least; surely everyone on here checks their result on a Saturday and is happy when they lose. We even have a song about it ffs - "never felt more like singing the blues, when Everton win and Liverpool lose..."

It's like some people are afraid of being labelled bitter or something. There's absolutely nothing wrong with rivalry in football.

It's not perfectly rational at all. You'd rather see us fail than them win? Fine if so, but don't act like it's an honourable or 'rational' position to take. If you're gonna be bitter, at least own up to it.

Rational....LOL.

That's exactly what I AM doing! And it's a two way street - it's supposed to be that way!!!

Ask a Barcelona fan about Real in certain situations, or Inter with AC Milan, it's the way it is. Pretending anything otherwise simply indicates a deep seated paranoia about being labelled bitter.

If anyone can hand on heart say that there is NO situation where they'd at the very least feel ambivalent about an Everton loss in certain scenarios, then that's absolutely incomprehensible to me. I can understand entirely the point about 4th being a big enough prize to make it OK if they won the league, that's fine, but there are alot of people here who are saying they want an Everton win every week no matter what. No grey area.

I disagree with Tubey about this particular position.

But he's spot on about the ammount of our fans who are ashamed of disliking our local rivals.

I hate them and I hate them doing well, and I don't think there's anything at all wrong with that. Rivalry is part of football.

I see. Well, I can only speak from my point of view. I want 4th at all costs. If we have to beat citeh, to achieve that (which I believe is what the thread is about.) then I couldn't give a crap if we're doing somebody else a favour by beating them.

Besides, even if Liverpool don't win the league. If we don't finish top 4, they will still have had a much more 'successful' season than us. They'd still gloat, and you know it.

I hate them. Would truly like to seem them liquidated. Their fans are absolute bells (generally). I hate the hashtags and the fact that they only seem to support the team during good times. I hate the fact that they think they're some unique snowflake and that everyone is out to get them.

I refuse to dress my child in red ffs. I have no red decorations in my house(not that everything is blue, I have a nice tasteful home that avoids red like the plague that it is).

I would rather Everton win and give them the league than watch my team show up and get beaten. Because at the end of the day - they don't matter. We do. We're Evertonians, not anti-Liverpudlians.

Everton winning every week sounds pretty amazing to me.

My other favorite game is college basketball. My team is Kentucky, who lost in the championship game last night. Our archrival is Louisville, who share a state with us. My sister is married into a family of diehard Louisville fans, and I live a mile from Kentucky's home arena. They won the title last year, we did the year before. Incidentally, I'm still a blue and they're still reds, which makes clothing choices easy regardless of sport. Even when they won last year, I was much more upset about our poor season than their good one. Do I want to beat them? Absolutely. Would I take a terrible season as long as we spoil things for them? No.

We can hate them all we want, but considering we should lose to spite them is [Poor language removed] appalling. Irrespective of what it means for us in terms of position or who against, we should scrap and compete for every point we possibly can. Some losses i can take better than others, but its unforgivable to set up to lose.
