I don't understand this point of view and I never will.

Why so? I want us to finish as high as possible. I guess "hate" was the wrong word. I don't like clubs buying a title and so I root against them until they are out of reach. Then it doesn't matter to me.

If RS and chelsea draw then city need the 3 points at goodison right to go top as well as winning the other games in hand?

It will be gut wrenching to see Liverpool win the league, 4th place is only a small consolation in my opinion.

You tell me that everton finishing 4th completely overshadows the rs finishing 1st and I'll smile and agree.

But you tell me that it's much the same for you whoever wins the league when one of the options is our hated local rivals and I stare at you in total shock.

Sometimes I like to talk about football. Don't get me wrong, Everton finishing 4th is the priority over anything Liverpool do. I just struggle to get hyped up about it when all my mates are crowing about winning the title.

Ah. Okay. That's probably explained by my being American. My disgust with the RS is obviously less visceral.

That's the same bs I get with my mates, they seem to ignore the top four race and just buzz about RS title chances which chelsea will stop when they play them
