If there is a Hajduk graffiti near the bar, it's probably cheap.
But of course, if you have to drink you beer in the center or on the beach, you will have to pay for that.

But you should do what locals do, buy a beer in the market and go chill on Matejuška or Sustipan

Hi mate, I have been put off going to the world cup in Russia due to my ethnic origins and them being narrow minded racists, can I expect a similar reaction in Croatia or are you a bit more diverse and welcoming?

Hi pal. Me and my boyfriend are heading over for this and simply CANNOT WAIT! Where is good for us to party our victory over there after the game? And do you even GHB?

Just read this on trip advisor, probably gonna give it a miss if I'm honest. Hopefully they're a little more open to you and your boyfriend as long as you don't openly show affection.

When we were in Croatia, the incident when someone shouted the N word, was not the only incident. I think I heard the word 'Chocolate' shouted at us literally about 30 times, on several occasions people tried to take photos of us, while pointing and laughing. A few times a day random people would approach us and put their arm next to my friends and comment that she was 'chocolate' and then laugh. To then meet a big group of teenagers on the final day telling us to 'go home' made us feel very uncomfortable.

Split is filled every year with thousands of tourists from all around the world, or navy men from foreign ships. People are used to foreigners, you really shouldn't have any problems.
Racism per se isn't really a thing here... as I sad, there are some historical problems with our neighbors, but it has nothing to do with other foreigners.

Quote that you posted doesn't really sound realistic.
Franck Ohandza is one of the most liked players locally... nobody gives a damn that he's black.

If you're black you'll get a few looks more than the whites but that's because we rarely see black poeple. But even that's been changing.

If you're a pasty Brit, you'll be fine. If you're an Everton fan, blend in with the tourists and stick to touristy parts - pretty much everywhere.

You will feel intimidated at the grounds tho. Bring a diaper.

Zadar to Split coach is like 2-2.5 hours, so wouldn't be so bad.

I've just done like a good 10-11 days in Croatia, and the 5 hour coach from Zagreb to Split wasn't even that bad.

Worth considering for anyone thinking of Ljubljana, Zagreb, Rijeka or Pula, that it isn't so bad.

I was there at the same time as you I reckon:), we got the bus from Ljubljana to Split, it took us about 7 hours as I remember, we were on a Flixbus, it had free wifi which helped pass time.

OMG! I was hoping for a super friendly city full of cute soccer guys. Croatians tell me the above is fake news plz.

I wish I'd made that up mate, that kind of backwards thinking shouldn't be allowed and it's why I wanted to mention it. I've seen stuff about Croatia introducing new hate crime laws but apparently this has had very little impact.

I'm not tarring them all with the same brush, but it does seem quite widespread.

If I'm a black man in an Everton shirt am I pretty much guaranteed to get my head kicked in? Do the majority of Hajduk fans stroll around with their knuckles dragging along 2 feet behind them?
