It's relegation form really, 4th from bottom. Thankfully the away form is very good. Imagine how well we would do if we had the home support of the likes of Palace or Leicester.

Think its quite clear the players are affected playing infront of us.

Nice try mate, the title nearly had me fooled, but you created an almost identical thread a couple of weeks ago at

Booing amazes me, as there is no real positive you can take from it

sad state of affairs when you go to a game and feel the need to boo

It doesn't help, but guess people who boo know that anyway

I disagree.

The game against Dynamo Kiev last season was turned on its head when the players responded to the chorus of boos which had started to accompany every pedestrian paced backwards and sideways pass when we were trailing 1-0.

It is the constant booing that isn't acceptable, and aiming it at individual players is even less acceptable.

Oh I agree with you there......singling out individual players for booing is unacceptable.

But booing at negative tactics is very acceptable and as was demonstrated the night of the Kiev game, sometimes very necessary.

It's like waiting for the 20/30 minute mark and no score, and no shots on target,it's then you know it's gunna be one of those days.

While I think that the atmosphere at Goodison has generally been dire over the last 12 months, and I agree wholeheartedly that booing and heckling individual players is completely counterproductive, I can't agree that the fans are in any way responsible for our home form.

If players were bothered by the atmosphere, I would expect them to go missing in games, not wanting the ball, playing the easy pass all the time etc. In all honesty, the opposite is usually true in our games. The players are more than happy to take risks, we always have players looking for the ball and we're not averse to trying the difficult stuff in order to make a breakthrough.

It's difficult to see how conceding goals on the counter or at set pieces can be laid at the feet of the fans, and I would have thought fan pressure would encourage players to tackle and press in order to show willing rather than lead them to stroll around the midfield like we often do.

But the problem at home isn't a lack of energy or effort, it's a lack of discipline. That's why you give up goals on counters and set pieces. You lose concentration for a moment and find yourself out of position. You don't think that sort of thing can be affected by the mood in the park?

I say yes, unfortunately the under thirties are badly letting us down and crying like spoilt little bishes.

My first year as a season ticket holder was at 15 years of age and ended up in the last game of the season against Wimbledon to stay up. The football was absolutely dire but at least we got behind the team.

This season offensively we have been brilliant to watch and all you have done is moan and whinge.

The way we support the team we deserve to be relegated.
I think you may be a little harsh about the relegation but I certainly see what you mean.
I have supporting Everton since the late 60's . I have seen good times but most poor to bad days in truth.
I see posters spouting about our motto of NSNO and that we should accept nothing less and I ask myself how often in it's entire history has the club lived up to that claim.

I agree as well the season in certain respects has been brilliant and at the same time even moreso frustrating and disappointing .
However, I regard the team and manager as still being in a learning mode.
There is so much good about what we are doing.
If the other bad bits can be sorted we have a very bright future.

I understand what you mean, but no, i don't really think it can. Well, obviously it can but it seems counterintuitive that it would.

Surely if the prevailing mood is one of annoyance, you would be more inclined to keep your wits about you and ensure you didn't become the object of everybody's ire, rather than switch off and make everything worse? I would have thought players were more likely to lose concentration when the mood is bouyant, they get carried away and forget what they're actually supposed to be doing. A n example of that would be Sunderland at home. We were 2-0 up and coasting to an easy victory and suddenly we'd made a couple of mistakes and got pegged back to 2-2. The atmosphere at that point was as hostile as i've ever known it, with even staunch defenders of Martinez going apoplectic around me. Suddenly the team switched back on and ran away with it again.
