Seen more Longstaff links as he is out of contract next year. Depressing but he would be more effective that Davies, Gomes and Delph so he would actually improve our squad if/when we shift one of them. I read that sentence twice and its actually true.

The other day I picked out a few players who will be free agents next summer.

Zakaria (Gladbach)
Kessie (Milan)
Kamara (Marseille)
Pellegrini (Roma)

Those were the midfield options. All far superior to Longstaff whose had a handful of good performances in his career and is a squad player after his major injury.

I also don't want Longstaff, as far as I can remember I think he was unable to get into Newcastle's first team last year.

Maybe if Longstaff is coming its to be a squad player to replace Davies/Gomes. Dear lord.

We don't play a ten mate - Richarlison plays as a 2nd striker with DCL off him.

What we need is another wide player as Gray / Townsend wont stay fit all season and Iwobi isn't reliable at all.

I don't think we will make any signings for a fee in January, probably just loans till the end of the season, 1 in midfield and 1 at RB.
Unless we manage to ship a couple of the existing midfielders out, or if we manage to get Cenk out we could bring in a striker on loan.

Well yeah but you will find Gray or Iwobi play centrally quite a bit but sure a player who can play across those three positions would be good.

Good point, we need a good crosser ideally so they can slot in with the style of play. No idea who we could get though.
