Im sure, in this case, you're correct Dave. I think Patterson for 10 million or less is well worth the risk, he's impressed me on the couple of occasions I've seen him. He just doesn't seem to fit Benitez' M.O.

Based on absolutely nothing other than gut feeling, I reckon Mina will be off in either January or the summer.
I think he’s our best defender and don’t want him to leave, but can see the sense in it if he does. Injury prone, big wage, 18 months left on his contract, clubs in Europe likely to be interested due to his quality/international credentials.
Also, Benitez saying plans have changed with Branthwaite could mean he’s seen as an easy win FFP wise. Keane and Godfrey are rightly going nowhere, Holgate needs shifting at some point, but Branthwaite could be 4th choice and Benitez may well be happy with only 4 CBs.
I’d still rather give him a new deal and flog Holgate like.

Yeah he went to Lincoln and did really well there. He is still only 20 years old and I would say he is a bit more than a flash in the pan, he has played for Wales already. He looks a good player with loads of potential.
He would be a good signing for Dalian perhaps
Just what we don’t need, at his age and in the last few months of his contract, he would be free in the summer, but, want stupid wages. That’s just the kind of signing we’ve been making for the Moshiri years. We get a lot of the wasters off the books this summer, let’s not replace them with more of the same like Lingard and Coutinho.
