Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

As some may be aware, I have a wee bit of an in at Rangers in respect of their transfer dealings. The Patterson deal has been ratified by the Rangers footballing management team. Player is happy to go. We offered 4m with add ons to 8 in the summer which I said was the case on here before it was reported. The financial aspect is still being ratified but I expect it to happen fairly soon. 14m is what I'm hearing. I'd imagine a lot of which will be add ons. If I hear anymore I'll keep you posted.

If it wasn’t for the previous link with Benitez would anyone honestly consider Longstaff good enough.
Not really but if the general consensus is that he is no better or worse than Davies then I can understand the logic of selling Davies for 5-10M? and replacing him with Longstaff for a couple of million.

Theres 3 somewhat similar players out of contract in the summer...

Kessie from AC Milan, 25 years old and walks into most teams. I think he wants £150k a week + signing fee. That would be 'the' statement blockbuster signing that id say puts us into a permanent 'top 6' level once we add full backs and a right winger...absolute class.

Zakaria: Very, very good player but had a major injury and one or two smaller ones which have set him back from becoming one of the big name players behind Kessie.

Kamara: Marseille who at 22 is the youngest of the 3 and a real diamond. Can play centre back and full back but over the last 18 months has made a name for himself as a defensive midfielder. Wouldnt surprise me to see him going to Man Utd.

For me, if we cant attract/afford Kessie then we go for Kamara who is going to be a really good player for his next club. Zakaria is good but the injury is a concern and i think there will be higher potential alternatives.

Yeah, its more that within a week of Benitez falling out with Digne we suddenly get a replacement....but its taking alot longer for the right back weve needed for ages.

I do find it odd that weve not just taken Ramsay from Aberdeen for a small fee...in addition to going for patterson.

Imagine if we played 3 at the back and had Livramento at RCB and Lamptey at RWD.

Its amazing to me that Chelsea let both players go...if they want Digne then surely theres a player we could swap him for from Chelsea....like the boy on loan at Palace.
Yes Gallagher looks a very good player and a number 10 type. Loan Digne then do a swap in the summer.

Rumours kessie was on his way to spurs after Conte got the job, zakaria I haven’t seen loads. Worrying he couldn’t get in Switzerland’s midfield in summer

I agree on kamara, I think we will miss the boat, think someone will bid in January.

What about the lad at Mallorca, iddrisa baba? Obviously his name hasn’t been mentioned for a while, but there a few stories a couple of months ago. And I read Rafael wanted him at real as a young lad

I’ve sort of said the same, delph going try to get Davies & Gomes out. And maybe loan Gbamin. And we’re short. Of course we’d all love kessie on a free and Bissouma for 50mil.

If getting longstaff on a free Allows us to spend 30/40 on a first choice midfielder, considering Allan will be in his last season next year Amd 31. Then I don’t see a big issue. He will be 4th choice at best maybe 5th I’f Onyango steps up Sell him on 2 years later

Scottish and unapologetically love Scottish fitba.

As someone who watches the SPFL regularly Ramsay is by far the biggest Scottish talent in it.

Patterson can’t only not get a game of a player who can’t defend in Tavernier, he isn’t even trusted enough for him to be rested against any half decent team. His only minutes are coming as part of a front 3 when games are dead…

I actually rate Patterson but he’s absolutely miles off what an Everton player should be or will ever be. Him and Doig get hype in the media up here because they’re tall and can run but the two best young fullbacks are Ramsay and Hickey, by miles.

Whilst Ramsay is a fine young talent, I completely disagree. Patterson is the closest thing to Tierney, albeit opposite flanks, to have come out of Scotland since his emergence.

The reasons he has not played for Rangers too much thus far are clear, I've went through them before. The player in his role, is not only captain but had the most assists and goal attributions in the team. It takes a massive gamble for an "old firm" manager to make that change. Ramsay has a free shot at it in comparison, and in that very same comparison, I can't see how a neutral could come up with the evaluation? He'll have a good career, but Patterson will have a fantastic one.

In respect of Hickey. I like the player very much. Completely two footed, which is actually surprisingly infrequent in top level football, not many are as confident on both feet as he is. Adapted relatively well to Seria A, although was dropped recently before regaining his place. Again, I'd place Patterson well above him in terms of current ability, Hickey could develop to his level, without having the same physical prowess that is so important in the EPL.

Anyways just my observations. What I do know is we are a long way to securing one. And it ain't Ramsay or Hickey.

Thanks for the insight mate. ;)

£4mil rising to £8mil would have been a great deal...i wonder what the fee would be without clauses if its going up to £14mil.

Still think we should get Ramsay as well.

And if you're right then Benitez will go and get one in.

If he doesn't then we all know Longstaff was the best available on our paper thin budget who was willing to join a club sat 15th in the table.

How do you work that out???

Just because Benitez chooses players doesnt mean theyre the best available on a budget.

I think thats the only way a Digne loan works.

Loan with a fee until summer -- the fee opens up FFP for us to sign Mykolenko and Patterson.

Then summer a swap deal with someone.

Idrissu Baba looks like another Gana type. A tackle machine. Not the type id go for.

I think were better off going for someone like Kessie/Kamara who can sit in front of the defence and hold a position while covering the defence...like Mascherano used to do for Benitez but different qualities.

If were going for 2 in midfielders I think they need to do more than just run around and tackle.
