So it appears we may be spending close to 40m this window with the very real possibility of only a loan out for Digne.

Either FFP was a simply a cover story for an unwillingness to spend in the summer, or we are prepared to run the risk regardless now.

My suspicion is it’s the former with the board now worried about our terrible form and acting accordingly.

If we look at wages saved with the likes of James off the books and kean leaving. Then take into account amotization of the deals we may be doing we'll probably only actually be spending under £15m. Which will be easily covered by the James and kean deals.

For what its worth I will be massively suprised if we let digne go on a free. I expect him to be sold and I also think that the plan will be to let one of mina or holgate go this window as well. With Branthwaite taking over as the 3rd or 4th choice cb.

We had wages off the books in the summer as well, Walcott, Bolasie - yet we were told we were in breach then?

Also, 'expecting' something to happen and 'having a plan' are one thing, we dont actually know what will happen.

The reports regarding Digne suggest we are holding out hope that newcastle save our bacon, they may, however they may not and we could be left looking at a loan out.

At the moment the facts are we've spent 23m on a player, with the manager clearly stating more to come in.

End of conversation.

Whilst largely accurate , it’s still a depressing thought that this year we could be selling one of only two current Everton players capable of getting me off my seat.
Players come and players go.

I don’t get hung up on individuals any more. Richarlison needs to move to a CL team and we need to strengthen several areas.

Unless we are sensible and extend his contract in the next six months to summer 2025. Thus allowing us to sell him in summer 2023 with a couple of years left on his contract and the club already partially straightened out, as per my previous comments.

Hey, if PSG or somebody else comes in for Richarlison this summer at £80m then sure, I'd sell. But that's unlikely to happen. So I'd extend him (using some of the wiggle room created by Delph, Sigurdsson and Tosun's wages coming off the payroll in summer 2022) by a year and concentrate on rebuilding the squad.
I don’t think he will extend his contract though. He wants to play for a CL team.

Moshiri does what he wants, FFP can do one.

But if we don’t sell in January. Is there a cut off date in the summer, so say worse case scenario will sell Richarlison before July. Not that I’d want to sell him. Just have we still got chance to sell players early summer to cover this January
